Win A trip For 4 To The Opening of Cars Land & A Private Jungle Cruise Tour Skippered By Pixar’s John Lasseter

From late 1977 through spring 1978, John Lasseter, before becoming chief creative officer at Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios and principal creative advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering, worked at Disneyland, and was a skipper on the Jungle Cruise attraction. Recently, a search for a photo of John skippering the Jungle Cruise came up empty. Surely there must be a photo of Skipper John somewhere? To find one, a contest has been created: the first person to submit a verifiable photo of John as the skipper of the Jungle Cruise from 1977 will win a trip for 4 to the grand opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure in summer 2012, and a ride on the Jungle Cruise skippered by none other than John himself!

For details on how to submit, visit Johnofthejungle.com or the official Disney•Pixar Facebook page: http://www.Facebook.com/disneypixar.

Rushmore Director’s Cut Coming to Criterion on Blu-Ray in November

Rushmore, ($39.95) the dazzling sophomore film from Wes Anderson is equal parts coming-of-age story, French New Wave homage, and screwball comedy. Tenth grader Max Fischer (Jason Schwartzman) is Rushmore Academy’s most extracurricular student—and its least scholarly. He faces expulsion, and enters into unlikely friendships with both a lovely first-grade teacher (Olivia Williams) and a melancholy self-made millionaire (Bill Murray, in an award-winning performance). Set to a soundtrack of classic British Invasion tunes, Rushmore defies categorization; it captures the pain and exuberance of adolescence with wit, emotional depth, and cinematic panache.

The film is due on Criterion Blu-ray on November 22, 2011 and contains the following features:

- New high-definition digital transfer of the director’s cut supervised by director Wes Anderson

- Audio commentary by Anderson, cowriter Owen Wilson, and actor Jason Schwartzman

- The Making of “Rushmore,” an exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary by Eric Chase Anderson

- Max Fischer Players Present: Theatrical “adaptations” of Armageddon, Out of Sight, and The Truman Show, staged for the 1999 MTV Movie Awards

- Episode of The Charlie Rose Show featuring Anderson and actor Bill Murray

- Cast audition footage

- Wes Anderson’s hand-drawn storyboards, plus a film-to-storyboard comparison

- Props, posters, behind-the-scenes photos, and other graphic ephemera

- Original theatrical trailer

- Collectible poster

DisneyToon Studios Announces Planes – A Full-Length CG Animated Movie Due In The Spring of 2013

Dusty, the small-town crop-duster from DisneyToon Studios’ upcoming feature “Planes,” has found his voice: Emmy Award-winning actor Jon Cryer, lands the role of the daring dreamer who takes on the most notoriously grueling air race in history, and in the process gives a spellbound world the inspiration to soar. “Planes,” an all-new, CG-animated comedy action adventure, flies into homes on Blu-ray and DVD in Spring 2013.

“We are incredibly excited to have Jon Cryer on board as the voice of Dusty,” said John Lasseter, chief creative officer for Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. “Jon brings so much comedy and believability to this character who dreams of soaring alongside his heroes in the ‘Wings Around the Globe’ Rally. ‘Planes’ is a wonderful story that takes audiences on a great ride and Jon brings so much heart to the film.”

Dusty lives in the small town of Propwash Junction, and the single-prop agriculture plane could not be further from the lean, mean, trophy-winning machines he idolizes – and his co-workers remind him constantly. His mentor Skipper is convinced that Dusty has the engine to compete with the best, and helps encourage him to pursue his lifelong dreams. But if Dusty wants to make his dreams a reality, he?ll need to push himself further than he ever imagined. With the help and support of a crew of all-new and hilarious characters, Dusty wings his way into the biggest challenge of his life.

“Planes,” set to introduce audiences to an entirely new and hilarious crew of daredevils from every corner of the globe, draws inspiration from the immensely popular world of Disney•Pixar’s “Cars.” Created, written and produced by DisneyToon Studios under the creative leadership of John Lasseter and directed by Emmy nominated Klay Hall, “Planes” takes off with an international cast of the fastest air racers around, in a comedy packed with action and adventure.

Dave Perillo’s 25 Years of Pixar Print

Today was an awesome day at D23 Expo. I had the opportunity to see a star studded presentation that outlined the 2011-2012 Disney film slate and then listen to 9 key Pixar legends speak about the company’s illustrious 25 year history.

Later, at the exhibitor floor, this awesome poster caught my wife’s eye and she demanded that I pick it up knowing how much I love Pixar and all of their wonderful movies. This was the one item that I purchased at the Expo.

The image was created by Dave Perillo who is also a huge fan of the Pixar films and was thrilled to do this piece for Acme Archives Direct.

25 Years of Pixar ($50) sold out today. My 12″ x 36″ limited edition silkscreen print will grace the walls of my office and join my cherished Mondo prints. The 150 piece hand-numbered edition came with a Certificate of Authenticity and I was lucky to get # 105.

Disney California Adventure Buena Vista Street From a Bird’s Eye View

At the 2011 D23 Expo, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs and Bob Weis, Executive Vice President, Creative, Walt Disney Imagineering, just took the audience back in time to 1920s Los Angeles, with updates on the upcoming Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure park. Now travel back in time with this new flythrough video, which takes you on a tour of the new Disney California Adventure park entrance like you’ve never seen before!

Ridley Scott To Make New Blade Runner Film

Following his work on Prometheus, Ridley Scott is ready to return to the world of “Blade Runner,”. Scott is committing to direct and produce “a film that advances his other seminal and groundbreaking science fiction film.”

It is unsure whether the project will be a sequel or prequel to the 1982 film. Warner Bros-based financing and production company Alcon Entertainment announced earlier this year that they had secured film, television and ancillary franchise rights to produce prequels and sequels to the iconic sci-fi original.

Alcon said that the franchise rights “would be all-inclusive, but exclude rights to remake the original. The Company, however, may produce projects based on situations introduced in the original film.”

Alcon co-founders and co-Chief Executive Officers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce along with Bud Yorkin. Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will co-produce. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO’s of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers.
