A new Diary of a Wimpy Kid title, the seventh book in Jeff Kinney’s blockbuster series, will go on sale Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Greg Heffley’s stories would be enjoyed by kids around the world,” said Kinney. “I’m incredibly excited to have the chance to lay down the seventh Diary of a Wimpy Kid book in seven countries at the same time. My international publishers have been supportive of the series from the very start, and it’s great to be able to team up with them and create a special moment like this.”
Diary of a Wimpy Kid books have been sold in more than 41 countries in 39 languages around the world. Published by Amulet Books, an imprint of ABRAMS, Kinney’s work has been widely praised for its ability to turn reluctant readers onto books.
Books in the core Wimpy Kid series include Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2007), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2008), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw (2009), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (2009), and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth (2010). On November 15, 2011, the sixth book in the series, Cabin Fever, released as the biggest book of the year, with a 6-million-copy first printing in the United States. Jeff Kinney has also written and illustrated The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book and The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary.
