Justin Cronin Introduces The Twelve

In the present day, as the man-made apocalypse unfolds, three strangers navigate the chaos. Lila, a doctor and an expectant mother, is so shattered by the spread of violence and infection that she continues to plan for her child’s arrival even as society dissolves around her. Kittridge, known to the world as “Last Stand in Denver,” has been forced to flee his stronghold and is now on the road, dodging the infected, armed but alone and well aware that a tank of gas will get him only so far. April is a teenager fighting to guide her little brother safely through a landscape of death and ruin. These three will learn that they have not been fully abandoned—and that in connection lies hope, even on the darkest of nights.

One hundred years in the future, Amy and the others fight on for humankind’s salvation . . . unaware that the rules have changed. The enemy has evolved, and a dark new order has arisen with a vision of the future infinitely more horrifying than man’s extinction. If the Twelve are to fall, one of those united to vanquish them will have to pay the ultimate price.

A heart-stopping thriller rendered with masterful literary skill, The Twelve is a grand and gripping tale of sacrifice and survival.

The Twelve, Cronin’s follow-up to The Passage, will be hitting shelves and e-books on Oct. 16,

Target Selling Limited-Edition Campbell’s Soup Cans Based On Andy Warhol’s Iconic Painting

In 1962, a relatively anonymous illustrator named Andy Warhol revealed his first major one-man exhibition and his now iconic artwork, “32 Campbell’s Soup Cans,”

Rumor has it, that the pop-artist ate tomato soup every day for lunch for 20 straight years

Now on display in New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMa), the famed artwork is celebrating its 50th year.

To commemorate this milestone, Campbell’s is releasing limited-edition cans of tomato soup featuring labels based on Warhol original artwork exclusively available at most Target stores throughout September.

Designed by Campbell’s Global Design team and The Andy Warhol Foundation, the cans are in bold, eye-catching colors and feature a portrait of the revolutionary artist and one of his many popular quotes.

“We are proud to be so closely linked to Andy Warhol’s work and, consequently, the pop art movement in America,” says Ed Carolan, Vice President and General Manager for Campbell’s. “We even have an original painting at our headquarters in Camden, N.J.”

Warhol may have gone on to immortalize celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Liz Taylor in bright and bold portraits, but a Campbell’s soup can is still his most famous subject.

Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Coming to ABC

It was revealed earlier this month that Joss Whedon had signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios to, among other things, help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC.

It was announced yesterday that ABC has greenlit a series titled “S.H.I.E.L.D.” which will focus on the top secret defense organization featured throughout the Marvel cinematic universe.

Whedon will write the pilot alongside his brother, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen (who previously worked with Whedon on “Dollhouse” and “Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”. All three will also join Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb as executive producers. The site notes that Whedon may also direct the pilot, but that nothing is confirmed at this time.

It remains to be seen which, if any, actors and/or characters from the Marvel Studios films are planned to appear on the show, though it’s very likely that “S.H.I.E.L.D” will have direct ties to future Marvel Studios cinematic entries, including the Whedon scripted and directed Marvel’s The Avengers 2, set for release on May 1, 2015.

Collection Intervention On The Syfy Channel

Collection Intervention follows Elyse Luray, former Head of the Collectibles Department at Christie’s, as she helps couples, families and individuals whose pop-culture memorabilia collections – from Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica to Catwoman and Barbie – have become damaging obsessions, creating financial strife and a huge strain on their lives.

Elyse will create a strategy that helps these collectors curate and showcase their collection by assessing where the true value lies and then allow them to decide what’s worth keeping and what they can sell.

These massive collections include dining rooms stuffed with 30,000 comic books, a garage filled to the rafters with Catwoman memorabilia, and an almost uninhabitable house filled with Transformers.

For each collector, parting with some of their collection may free up some much needed space in their home, provide cash windfall to get out of debt, or even just allow a  couple to become more focused on their relationship.

Watch what happens when seemingly harmless collections become uncontrollable obsessions!

New episodes air on the Syfy channel on Tuesdays at 10/9c.

Brett Cohen – Celebrity?

On the night of July 27th, 2012, a huge prank was pulled in New York City by Brett Cohen. The 21 year old student came up with a crazy idea to fool thousands of pedestrians by hiring paparazzi and bodyguards to escort him around Times Square.

His “15 minutes of fame” caused quite a stir as you can see in the video below.

This social experiment makes a profound statement about how modern culture is so attracted to pop culture, without any real credibility needed.

The next day Cohen talked to Good Morning America about his experience. Watch the video HERE.
