Hero Complex Founder Geoff Boucher To Head to Entertainment Weekly

In a memo from Entertainment Weekly managing editor Jess Cagle to the magazine’s staff:

“We are thrilled to tell you that Geoff Boucher is coming to Entertainment Weekly. Geoff is one of the most well-known and respected journalists in Hollywood, with a true passion for pop culture and an array of talents and expertise that will be extremely valuable as this growing, evolving, multi-platform media brand moves into the future.

Based in L.A., he will join the Movies team as a senior writer and add his voice to EW’s print and digital platforms (more details about his role on EW.com will be announced in the coming weeks).

During his 21-year career at the L.A. Times, he became a star at the helm of the successful Hero Complex blog, where he explored and celebrated the art of comic books and fan culture. He also anchored the video series Hero Complex: The Show, and engaged his devoted audience with the Quizzam! trivia quiz. He has also headlined live events at Comic-Con and other venues, interviewing Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Robert Downey Jr. and many others. At the Times, he has published more than 2,800 stories, which took him everywhere from New Jersey (where he spent two days in Bruce Springsteen’s rehearsal space) to Budapest (where he roamed the streets with Brad Pitt) to Beyonce’s house (where he ate gumbo). He may be the only journalist ever to do face-to-face interviews, in the same month, with Dick Cheney and Keith Richards.

Geoff is married to Tracy Boucher, who works at the LA Times, and they have two kids, Addison, 14, and Benjamin, 10. He will arrive at EW on October 1. As long-time fans of Geoff, we are very excited to call him a colleague. Please join us in welcoming him.”

I personally want to congratulate Geoff on his new endeavor and can’t wait to read his articles in EW. Boucher changed the face of pop culture in Los Angeles and will do the same with this national magazine!
