Wallpaper magazine asked the Contemporary Industrial Design Company Fort Standard to design a piece for their Handmade Exhibition in Milan during Salone Del Mobile, they set out to design a survival kit with the intention of creating something which looked and felt as precious as its contents.

The design became largely about the packaging as it needed to be serious, yet beautiful; an object you could easily bring with you on a day hike or even keep in your car or boat but most importantly an object you would want to bring with you everywhere.

The kit (which, unfortunately, is not available to purchase) includes a compass, pen knife, fishing wire, and more in a sharp looking and compact golden canister.

Mansoor Khalid, the driver behind the Candy Cab in New York City, hopes to provide a “little happiness to all” by giving his passengers free candy and chocolates along with a personal disco light-filled party in the backseat. Riders can also plug into the cab’s “blasting sound system” with their own devices to play music.

The New York Times recently featured Khalid and writes that he spends $300/month on candy and was inspired to create the Candy Cab after devastatingly losing his young son nearly two years ago. He says, “I like to buy something for people; I feel good. Walmart announced that it has partnered with Warner Bros. to give its customers exclusive access to see Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ Man of Steel in theaters nationwide before the film’s official release.

Tickets for the exclusive screening will go on sale in more than 3,700 Walmart stores starting at 8 a.m. on May 18. Customers will be able to purchase up to four tickets per visit and will have the option to choose between 2D or 3D showings, where applicable. The advance screenings will take place in selected local theaters nationwide at 7 p.m. on June 13.

Specific details of the promotion read as follows:

- Each ticket bought at Walmart will feature a code on the back that allows customers to pre-order their own Blu-ray Combo Pack or HD Digital Download of Man of Steel, which will contain exclusive film content.

- Fans can bring Superman to life with the official “Man of Steel Experience” augmented reality app. The app allows customers to take photos with the superhero, as well as unlock special photo frames by pointing their phone at Man of Steel signage in their local Walmart

- Customers will receive a free original Digital Comic Book written by Man of Steel screenwriter David Goyer with every ticket.

- Beginning April 28, a variety of Man of Steel merchandise such as t-shirts, electronics, posters and more from top brands will be available at Walmart stores and at Walmart.com

Walmart invites customers to join the conversation and show their excitement for the first screening of “Man of Steel” on Facebook and on Twitter with the hashtag #SeeSteelFirst.

The highly-anticipated action adventure stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff.

In the film, a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

Man of Steel will 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters nationwide on June 14.

Joe Trapanese is most well known for his collaboration with Daft Punk on 2009′s Tron: Legacy soundtrack, as well as Mondo’s most recent LP release of the soundtrack to Oblivion. Joe’s work varies from television (Dexter) to collaborations with M83 on their 2011 album “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.”

Mike Shinoda is perhaps best known as the principal songwriter, guitarist and rapper of Linkin Park. He has a diverse musical background, producing tracks for everyone from Depeche Mode to Lupe Fiasco. His collaboration with Joe Trapanese marks his first film score.

Stepping up to the plate for artwork chores on Thinner is Les Edwards while multiple Jack Kirby Award-winning comic book artist Stephen R. Bissette is already going hell-for-leather on color spreads for Skeleton Crew plus art-headers for each story. 

The publisher is planning on including Pete Von Sholly’s storyboards for Frank Darabont’s movie adaptation of The Mist. 

Future updates regarding these two books will include: the details of introductions, afterwords, signatures, etc.

“You know, they had a rough beginning. They’re interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn’t necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they’re not there to make things easier. I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.”

Whedon also spoke about how the ending to Iron Man 3 showed a potentially changed Tony, but he’s still tied to The Avengers.

“Well, I feel like in Iron Man 3, even though he said, ‘I’ve changed’ — he blew up his remote suits, but I don’t think anybody thinks he doesn’t have one anymore. The question is, if The Avengers are called, does he show up? And the answer is, ‘Yes!’”

Casting for The Avengers 2 is still coming together. Marvel’s The Avengers 2 hits the big screen on May 1, 2015.
