Phineas and Ferb Meets Star Wars In Special 2014 Episode

680x478

The adventuring stars of Disney’s hit animated series Phineas and Ferb are heading to a galaxy far, far away: A special Star Wars-themed episode of the musical-comedy series is currently in production, announced at by show creators and executive producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh at Comic-Con International in San Diego. The one hour event episode will premiere next year on Disney Channel and Disney XD, placing the characters of Phineas and Ferb in the same space and time as the world of Star Wars.

Povenmire said, “May the ‘Ferb’ be with you and with all of us who for decades have dreamt of a chance to work with the great characters and stories of Star Wars.”

The episode’s story begins a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away — in summer. Phineas and Ferb are living happily on Tatooine, just one moisture farm over from Luke Skywalker. They love simply hanging out and creating new adventures under the twin suns, however, they find themselves thrust into a global rebellion when the plans for blowing up the Death Star accidentally fall into their hands.

Now that fate has suddenly pulled them into the fight for freedom, they must go in search of a pilot who can take them to the Rebels so they can hand over the plans. Complicating matters, Candace — the boys’ sister — has a Stormtrooper-like intent on “busting rebels” who chase Phineas and Ferb across the galaxy in hopes of retrieving the Death Star plans.

Meanwhile, back on the Death Star, Dr. Darth Enshmirtz, a low level Darth, has created a Force-powered “Sith-inator” that he plans to use against the Rebel Alliance. Agent P, working undercover for the Rebellion, is dispatched to stop him, but quickly gets trapped in carbonite. Then, things take a startling turn when Ferb is accidentally hit by the full blast of Dr. Darth Enschmirtz’s “inator” and becomes…an evil Sith.

Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordswoman Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Disney is going back to basics for its latest Disney Channel series, titled simply, “Mickey Mouse.” The shorts began airing on Friday, June 28, on the Disney Channel, Disney.com and other Disney-branded platforms.

The new series will feature short adventures starring the company’s mascot getting involved in slapstick hijinks. In a deliberate attempt to get away from the modern look of computer animation, the new Mickey Mouse shorts will be done in traditional 2-D animation and feature a Mickey Mouse styled as he was in the 1930s.

Adding to the retro style, the background designs are inspired by the look of Disney cartoons in the 1950s and ’60s, and it’s said that the production team is paying homage to other Disney icons along the way.

You can watch 4 of the most recent shorts below: Croissant de Triomphe, Yodelberg, No Service and New York Weenie.

Adventure Time #17 MONDO Variant Comic Cover To Go On Sale Wednesday, June 26, 2013

MONDO worked with BOOM! on a variant cover for Adventure Time #17 to celebrate their Adventure Time/Regular Show Gallery opening last Friday. MONDO decided to use a design from JJ Harrison and below, he talks about his influences and why he did what he did:

“I designed the “Adventure Time” cover to honor the single most important thing in my son’s life–Adventure TIme–and one of the movies that had a tremendous impact on my childhood–E.T.  Both center around a boy and his magical companion and the adventures they share together. It was a nice fit. For me, the original E.T. poster evokes a feeling of soaring adventure coupled with a sense of growing up and loss, and I wanted some of that in this piece, as well. I found a subtle way to include a very melancholy Ice King in the image. I feel like no other character from Adventure Time embodies those emotions more than he does.”

You can see photos of the comic HERE.

Please follow MONDO on Twitter for the on sale announcement. This exclusive comic book will be available online at a random time on Wednesday, June 26th and it will not be available at comic shops.

Teen Titans Returning to Cartoon Network

The half-hour animated series, Teen Titans Go! will premiere on Tuesday, April 23, at 7:30pm (ET/PT) and will be rebroadcast during the DC Nation block on Saturday mornings at 10:30am (ET/PT) beginning April 27.

The character-driven comedy series focuses on the funny that happens in between saving the world and living together as teenagers without adult supervision. The comedic mayhem of the animated series is punctuated by pranks and the occasional need to fight crime, but it will also deal with the everyday issues of adolescence. With epic staring contests to decide who does the laundry, a series of quests and battles to construct the perfect sandwich or fighting crime in Jump City, one thing is for sure, these Titans will always be ready for an adventure inside the house and out.

The principal voice cast from the original Teen Titans series, based on DC Comics characters, will reprise their roles in Teen Titans Go!, with Scott Menville as the voice of Robin, the slightly power-mad perfectionist and leader of the Teen Titans. Hynden Walch voices Starfire, an alien struggling to fit in; Tara Strong voices Raven, the sardonic, deadpan demon girl; Greg Cipes returns as the slightly dim but always lovable loafer, Beast Boy; and Khary Payton provides the voice of Cyborg, a laid-back kid who is half teen, half robot.

Teen Titans Go! joins a strong Tuesday night block of programming on Cartoon Network which also includes Johnny Test (7:00pm ET/PT) and The Looney Tunes Show (8:00pm ET/PT). Teen Titans Go! can be seen again on Saturday mornings during the DC Nation block alongside Beware The Batman, which will premiere this summer. Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice Invasion will end their run on March 16.
