For the first time, Jason Reitman’s storied Live Read — which takes a beloved filmed script and turns it into a special one-time only re-enactment — will include a screening of the material that inspired it: Mad Men, created by its executive producer, Matthew Weiner. The event starts with Reitman directing a reading of the compelling finale of the award-winning period drama’s first season, the memorable “The Wheel,” (nominated for an Emmy for its writing, by Weiner and Robin Veith), which wrapped up many of the debut season’s storylines while propelling a great many more into orbit. As is his custom, Reitman will cast a group of actors to put their own particular spins on a classic piece of storytelling. The evening concludes with a screening of the very last episode ever of Mad Men at Ace Hotel. We’ll get to see how much the show sums up, and what questions it will raise and leave our imaginations to answer.
Created by Matthew Weiner; with Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery
