Iconic Celebrities Rendered In Typeface

Besides small facial drawings, the entire figure of these celebrities is created using actual fonts. The creative images of Charlie Chaplin, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Marlon Brando appeared in the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper in Brazil.

  1. Quite rightly. Type carries mood and attitude just as much as anything else you might design and create with. Color suggests mood and sentiment. So does type.

What I’m constantly amazed with is the way some type artists can create ‘real’ looking faces with just type. The Brando and Dean countenances are uncanny. And the Marilyn face, which it has less detail, seems to carry as much meaning, because Marilyn seems to signify just as much as you want her to … or not. She’s a blank slate.
