ABC3D

Prepare to be amazed! From the lenticular cover that changes with the angle of your hands all the way to the Z, ABC3D ($13.57) by Marion Bataille is as much a work of art as it is a pop-up book. Each of the 26 three-dimensional letters move and change before your eyes. C turns into D with a snap. M stands at attention. X becomes Y with a flick of the wrist. And then there’s U…Boldly conceived and brilliantly executed with a striking black, red, and white palette, this is a book that readers and art lovers of all ages will treasure for years to come.

  1. Found a link to your blog through Mental Floos. I’m a huge fan of Pop-Up books. Have you see Robert Sabuda’s work? Sabuda’s pop-ups are the of the most intricate and clever. In his ‘Wizard of Oz’ pop up the Wizard’s balloon floats above the page on two strings. Each page of Sabuda’s newer work has a main, center page pop-up and additional little ‘books’ of pop-ups. Sabuda also works motion into his pop-ups. In ‘Dinosaurs’ a T-Rex snaps at the reader as they open the page.

I also recommend David A Carter and James Diaz’s ‘The Elements of Pop-Ups’ where each pop-up is attached to the page in such a way that you can open it up or flip the page over to see the mechanics.
