American Idol Theme On 4-28-09

Next week, the Top 5 finalists – Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert – take the stage again Tuesday, April 28 (8:00-9:01 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to perform standards made famous by members of the original Rat Pack, a group of legendary performers that included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

  1. This should be awesome because these guys havent’ been relevant since 1950! WHY CAN’T THIS SHOW LISTEN TO IT’S OWN ADVICE! Do Mary J Blidge week, U2 Week, heck, Depeche Mode has an album coming out, do Depeche Mode week! SOMETHING RELEVANT would be EXTREMELY REFRESHING!

  2. Don is absolutly right. None of these contestants will do anything like this old music so why make them sing it? The show, not the contestants, is becoming old fashioned.

  3. OMG! I would LOVE a U2 week! There are so many excellent songs to choose from…and I think the contestants could do some fun “tweaks” to them. Depeche Mode would also be fun. Or how about a “British Invasion” week, where the contestants could choose any song by a British artist. That would open the door to songs from many eras, so there’s be lots of variety. I hear that next week is “rock” week…if so, that will be a winner! Looking forward to that big time, especially Adam’s performance. With that voice of his, I’m hearing Iron Maiden, Guns ‘n Roses, Aerosmith, Queen, and sooo much more. AI needs more themes like “rock week.” You know, I think “Madonna Week” would be better than Rat Pack. Or how ’bout generalizing it even more and have a “Diva Week”?
