Believe it or not, your next action hero could be none other than Harry Houdini, the master escape artist. While Tony Curtis’s 1953 portrayal of Houdini’s was a slightly fictionalized, light-hearted take on the famed magician’s life and love, Summit Entertainment wants to make their version “an action thriller featuring a character who is part Indiana Jones and part Sherlock Holmes.”
The film is actually going to be an adaptation of The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero, which Summit says insinuates that Houdini worked as a spy for Great Britain.
Summit is rumored to be looking at Jeff Nathanson to work on the script, according to exclusive info from IGN Movies. Nathanson shared a story credit with George Lucas for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and worked on the screenplay for Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal.
