Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced 1-disc DVD ($28.96) and 1-disc Blu-ray ($39.95) releases of This Is It for the 26th January. Extras will include a Staging the Return: The Adventure Begins Making-of Documentary, a Staging the Return: Beyond the Show Making-of Documentary, featurettes (“The Gloved One – Costumes”, “Memories of Michael”, “Auditions: Searching for the World’s Best Dancers”), and the theatrical trailer. The Blu-ray release will include all that, plus a Smooth Criminal Vignette starring Michael Jackson which was to be shown before the performance of “Smooth Criminal” at the This Is It concert, a “Thriller” Vignette which was to be shown during the performance of “Thriller” at the This Is It concert, and a Making ‘Smooth Criminal’ featurette.
They are blowing it by not doing this BEFORE Christmas…..
I read Sony really tried to release “This is it” for Christmas but was rejected by the film industry. It was said to be soon after showing in theaters. No matter to me, I can’t wait for the dvd.
