New Video Game Releases Jan. 25th – Jan. 29th

A monumentally huge release week for 2010 arrives with MAG, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Phoenix Wright, and No More Heroes II.

The definite must purchase of the week, however, is Mass Effect 2.  Sci-Fi fans should warp, beam, or make light-speed tracks for the local game store as the sequel to the seminal action/RPG from developer BioWare arrives on shelves.  With a universe that could give Star Wars a run for its money and two supporting novels that don’t feel like bad fan fiction, the Mass Effect storyline unfolds with you in the driver’s seat to deliver an experience that most sci-fi films could only hope to do.  You return as Commander Shepard to find entire human colonies across the star systems are vanishing one by one.  It’s up to you to recruit an elite team of the galaxy’s most dangerous and skilled experts, and lead them on a suicide assault into the most dangerous region of space.  Fans of the first game already know that their saved game files, actions, and choices from the first Mass Effect carry over to influence the way they are perceived in the new game.  BioWare may very well have just set the bar for the rest of the year.
