Sit And Spell

Eric Ku is a 26 years old Graphic Designer who recently graduated from School of Visual Arts in New York. Ku was born in Taiwan and immigrated to USA in 2001. His senior thesis project called Mission Redefinition was a series of exercises that explore the concept of redefinition through the application of graphic design.

The clever designer created this wonderful self-describing chair. The 5 letters that spell the word C-H-A-I-R have been cut out of aluminum and an be assembled to form an actual usable sturdy chair.

To quote the Eric:

“An inspiration from the American contemporary artist Joseph Kosuth, One and Three Chair. Instead of giving new definition, I redefined the concept of a chair by using alphabet. One is able to construct a chair by assembling the redesigned alphabets.”
