Disney has kicked off CES 2011 with a bang by revealing an aggressive plan to release at least 15 films on Blu-ray 3D in the coming year.
New theatrical releases on Blu-ray 3D will include Tron: Legacy and Tangled. Both were released theatrically in December and are expected to be released on Blu-ray 3D in March or April. Additional day-and-date titles presumably including Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and others will be revealed throughout the year.
On the animated classics end you can expected Beauty and the Beast, which recently debuted on Blu-ray, as well as The Lion King, which will debut in high-def for the first time this year. Catalog films that will receive the Blu-ray 3D treatment this year include Bolt, Chicken Little, Meet The Robinsons, G-Force, and Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Nightmare Before Christmas is coming to Blu Ray? DAMN, now I have to go get one! Thanks for the post.
Nightmare Before Christmas is already out on Blu-ray. I have a copy and it looks great. The movie is slated to arrive on 3-D Blu-ray in 2011 which means you need to purchase a 3D Blu-ray player and 3D HDTV.
