The Fisker Karma: An Electric Vehicle With Extended Range

Driving in Los Angeles today a futuristic car I had never seen or heard of before pulled up next to us so I had to investigate…

The Fisker Karma ($102,000 – $116,000) created by Henrik Fisker, the designer of the Aston Martin DB9 and BMW Z8, is as great for the environment as it is too look at.

The sexy sports sedan hybrid, of which only 15,000 a year will be produced, will be able to run 50 miles on a pure electric charge. After that, you can extend your trip to more than 620 miles with the Karma’s gas or diesel engine, which will reportedly get close to 100 miles to the gallon. Fisker claims it will be able to hit 60 mph in 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 125 mph.

The Karma features the largest solar glass roof ever designed for a production vehicle which harnesses energy from the sun to extend the driving range for up to an additional 200 miles/322 km annually.
