The $1,000 Ice Pop

The world’s most expensive ice pop costs $1,000 and is offered poolside at the Marquis Los Cabos luxury resort in Baja California Sur, Mexico.

It is created with sugar, Tequilas Premium Clase Azul Ultra tequila which sells for about $1,500 a bottle and edible 24-carat gold flakes.

  1. It’s no more than $33 worth of tequila. The full bottle is $1700 but to freeze such a small pop couldn’t be more than half an ounce of tequila in there, which would be about $33. Edible gold, while seeming fancy is not worth much, there seems to be even less than a bottle of Goldschlager. Maybe $5 in gold. So, upwards of $40 in ingredients, $5 in labor. For $1,000. Yeah, makes sense. I read they also charge $500 for a shot. The bottle is $1700, there are 16.9 shots in a 750 ml bottle, that’s $100 worth of tequila for $500. That means they make $8450 off a $1700 bottle, a profit of $6,750 per bottle.
