The 20 most valuable comics ever auctioned off have all been sold since 2010. In the past two years, the astronomical selling prices of “holy grail” books like Action Comics No. 1 and Detective Comics No. 27 have triggered a boom in the comic book collectors’ market. Buyer interest shows no signs of slowing for first editions and other high-profile comics from long ago.

Check out the gallery HERE for a look at the top 10 comic books and art that have brought in the most money to date.

Considered by some to be the “holy grail” of comics collecting, an issue of Action Comics No. 1 sold in late 2011 for $2.161 million.

Neil Gaiman Confirms He Is Writing Another Doctor Who Episode

Neil Gaiman, who penned last season’s Doctor Who episode “The Doctor’s Wife,” is hard at work writing a new episode.

Gaiman revealed the news during his recent Hugo Award acceptance speech, where he won the Best Dramatic Presentation Short Form award for “The Doctor’s Wife.”

“Only a fool or a mad man would try to do it again … so I’m on the third draft.” the beloved author stated.

The new episode is currently slated for the second half of season seven in spring 2013—but it could be bumped, depending on budgetary issues.

MONDO Will Be At The 2012 New York Comic-Con

Mondo, will be at New York Comic-Con. The largest pop culture event on the East Coast will be held from October 11-14 at the Javits Center in NYC. Mondo will be at booth # 263.

If Mondo’s presence at the New York Comic-Con is anything like the San Diego Comic-Con, I have a few suggestions:

– Wear comfortable shoes and hydrate in anticipation of the long serpentine line that will wrap around the convention hall. The good news is that you will get to spend time meeting fellow fans, awesome Mondo employees and walk away with some amazing art!

– Make sure your smartphone is fully charged to ensure that you get the Mondo drop updates via twitter

– Bring several sturdy poster tubes to bring your precious cargo home safely.

The New One-Sheet Poster For Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. 3D

Monsters, Inc., one of Disney Pixar’s most beloved and visually imaginative feature films ever, returns to the big screen to delight a whole new generation of audiences and fans alike, this time in stunning 3D and you can check out the new one-sheet poster below.

The now-classic Academy Award-winning animated comedy adventure “Monsters, Inc.” is set in Monstropolis, a thriving company town where monsters of all shapes and sizes reside. Lovable Sulley (voiced by John Goodman) and his wisecracking best friend Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) are the top scare team at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream-processing factory. The main power source in the monster world is the collected screams of human children—and at Monsters, Inc., an elite team of scarers is responsible for gathering those precious natural resources. Believed by monsters to be toxic, children are strictly forbidden from entering Monstropolis. But when a little girl named Boo (voiced by Mary Gibbs) accidentally follows Sulley back into his world, he finds his career in jeopardy and his life in utter chaos. So pals Mike and Sulley plot to rectify the mistake and return Boo to her home. But when the trio encounters an unexpected series of complications, they become embroiled in a cover-up catapulting them into a mystery beyond their wildest dreams.

Directed by Oscar-winner Pete Docter (“Up”) and produced by Oscar nominee Darla K. Anderson (“Toy Story 3”), “Monsters, Inc.” is in theaters—again—January 18, 2013, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D in select theaters.
