Google Releases YouTube App For The iPhone & iPod touch

Google has now launched its own official standalone YouTube app for the iPhone and iPod touch following reports that iOS 6 will remove the built-in YouTube app.

The new YouTube app has been developed for the iPhone and iPod touch to provide a more integrated experience along with improved performance and exploration features, allowing users to access YouTube either as a guest or with their own YouTube account, view playlists, subscribe to video channels, and discover content via a new integrated YouTube channel guide. Users can also play videos via AirPlay and share on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Messages and e-mail.

The new app also provides access to a greater range of content by allowing users to view videos with pre-roll advertising—a requirement that barred many videos from being displayed in the built-in app.

YouTube is an iPhone and iPod touch app requiring iOS 4.3 or later and is available from the App Store as a free download. An iPad optimized version is reportedly under development and expected to be available in the coming months.

Saturday Night Live is adding three new performers for the upcoming season after the departures of Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg.

The sketch comedy show announced Monday that Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson and Cecily Strong will be joining SNL for its 38th season.

Strong comes from the touring company of the Chicago improv theater Second City. She will be a cast member.

Bryant hails from the iO Theater in Chicago, and Robinson is an alumnus of Second City. They will be featured players.

It’s a period of transition for SNL, which will enter its new season without Samberg, Wiig or Abby Elliott. Many also expect Jason Sudeikis to soon depart.

How Nerf Became The World’s Best Purveyor of Big Guns For Kids

A team of 15 Hasbro designers, engineers, marketers, product development specialists, model makers, model painters and computer-aided design experts in both Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Hong Kong were tasked to handle two requests from their target customers.

Boys ages 8 to 16 wanted a blaster that had greater ammo capacity and shot projectiles farther.

The design team had recently broken the 50-foot barrier with a new line of guns that fired little Frisbee-like discs. But could they create a standard foam dart capable of traveling an unheard-of 75 feet—about the length of a regulation tennis court? And while they were at it, could they significantly increase the dart-carrying capacity of a blaster? At the time it was 35 darts. How about 50?

Read about the meticulous design, engineering and testing that goes into creating better Nerf guns HERE.

Nerf’s N-Strike Elite Hail-Fire, the flagship dart blaster of Nerf’s 2012 lineup is a hulking semiautomatic with unprecedented ammo capacity and a 75-foot range.
