Exclusive: First Look At IDW Limited’s Locke & Key – Head Games Signature Plates

IDW Limited has been publishing the most elaborate, gorgeous and lavish hardcover editions within the comic book community, in fact their books surpass the quality and standards you’d find with some of the fantasy and horror collectible publishers.

Later this summer the San Diego based comic book company will release the long awaited second limited editions of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s award winning ongoing series – Locke & Key: Head Games.

This is the sketch plate for the upcoming Head Games Limited-edition.

Blue Label plates will be cover homages.

The Black Label plates feature Rodriguez’s art and then they’ll be filled in by guest artists. Joe & Gabe have been recommending artists that they would like to work on the project. The first confirmed artist I can tell you is Langdon Foss. You may know him from Anthony Bourdain’s comic “Get Jiro”. He’s got a very vibrant, almost dreamlike style and I can’t wait to see what he does with this.

I will announce more artist names soon. There will be a total of 5 different artists. IDW will be bringing sneak peeks and samples to Comic Con. More information regarding edition sizes, prices and the release date will be announced soon.

What I can share with you is that IDW is pulling out all the stops with the Locke & Key: Head Games Limited Edition! Expect to see sturdy slipcases, an original Israel Skelton key, hidden compartments, gorgeous photographs from Shane Leonard, remarkable signature plates and lots more extras. My thought is that IDW will be taking pre-orders at Comic Con for these limited volumes and the books will sell out extremely fast so you may want to race to the IDW booth first when you hit the convention floor.
