Monsters University Makes It 14 In A Row For Number One Debuts, Earns A Whopping $82 Million Its First Weekend

Monsters University took the number one box office spot this weekend, earning an estimated $82 million. Brad Pitt’s film World War Z was second earning $66 million.

The Monsters’ University opening is only second to Toy Story 3, which opened in 2010 to $110 million.

Monsters U. is Pixar’s 14th film to open at the number one spot, an amazing record!

The film, directed by Dan Scanlon, features the voices of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi, and proves that Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan may be an inseparable pair, but it wasn’t always the case. From the moment the two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.
