Comic Con Experience reveals the artwork for the official event poster created by internationally renowned Brazilian comic book artists, Ivan Reis and Rafael Grampá, both confirmed guests at CCXP, with colors by Marcelo Costa. The poster was created in an exclusive agreement between CCXP and DC Comics, the publisher owned by Time Warner which owns the rights to classic characters, such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Batman.
The poster will be seen in promotional items for CCXP, including t-shirts sold exclusively at the event, on the cover of the CCXP program guide, and on promotional posters to be handed out to visitors who have acquired Fan or Full Experience packages.
“Batman is a pop icon and by celebrating its 75th anniversary CCXP is also celebrating pop culture as a whole”, explains Ivan Costa, business partner in CCXP.
The character that first appeared in Detective Comics# 27, in 1939, turns 75 in top form and in every medium: the film Batman v. Superman is one of the most eagerly anticipated in the years to come, the Fox TV series Gotham premiered successfully in the USA last week, and the games Batman: Arkham are a commercial and critical success, while he is a constant presence in comics, and in a multitude of products.
The poster features several innovations: it presents, in a single image, the artwork by two top artists with very different styles. Additionally, the poster refers back to the classic DC covers from the beginning of the Silver Age, in the 1960s, when the editor Julius Schwartz would often have the covers produced before the issue itself, challenging his writers to come up with stories based on the covers. This technique was responsible for a lot of classic covers and for one of the most creative periods – and a certain nonsense that was typical of the time – in the history of DC Comics.
