Tomorrow MONDO will release House On Haunted Hill Prints by Jonathan Burton.
House On Haunted Hill featured stars both on screen and off. Ever reliant Vincent Price stars in one of his most memorable rolls, but the real star of the show is director William Castle and his promotional stunt “Emergo,” in which a plastic skeleton was flown over the audience in the theater during key moments of the film. His creativity and inventiveness took sometimes mediocre movies and made them genuine experiences. This film is said to have inspired Alfred Hitchcock to make his own low budget horror film…. Psycho!
Here’s what Jonathan had to say about the poster:
“I found House on Haunted Hill creepy and camp in equal measure and I wanted the poster to get into the spirit of the film in a fun ‘haunted house’ atmosphere. There are some hidden details in the poster that I won’t reveal but will hopefully jump out to fans of the film. I drew Frederick Loren as a manipulative figure controlling the proceedings, and while at first we’re unsure about his motivations, Vincent Price plays the character as a deliciously dark puppet master.”
