Inside Walt Disney’s Immaculately Reconstructed Office

Earlier this week, Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, along with Walt Disney’s granddaughters Joanna Miller, Jennifer Goff, and Michelle Lund, composer Richard Sherman, actress Kathryn Beaumont (voice of Alice in Alice in Wonderland) and former head of Walt Disney Imagineering Marty Sklar, dedicated Walt Disney’s newly restored office suite. The suite is located on the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, in the original Animation Building, and lovingly pieced together just like Walt left it.

Iger said that the space was “restored down to the tiniest detail,” in what he described as “a painstaking process.” The office is now exactly the way Walt left it back in 1966. This “permanent exhibit,” Iger said, “serves as a source of inspiration for us, a reminder to us to have great ambition, to take bold creative risks, to constantly innovate and push the limits of possibility, to relentlessly pursue perfection and to tell fantastic stories that touch people’s hearts. That was Walt Disney.” And that is inspirational.

Check out the photos of the room, which includes the Sherman Brothers’ original piano (on which they played “Feed the Birds” from Mary Poppins for Walt every Friday afternoon) and a bar that is hidden behind a secret wall.
