Brighten Your Batcave With Rainbow Batman Figures

Last year, DC Comics ran a poll to see if fans would be interested in colorful figures. The fans loved the idea so much the company decided to make the toys a reality.

The Batman: Rainbow set come in a six-pack of action figures with the Caped Crusader wearing his costume in pink, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. The figures have nine points of articulation.

In Detective Comics issue 241 Batman had decided that if he wore an all-orange or yellow batsuit instead of his usual black he might confuse criminals enough to protect Robin in “The Rainbow Batman.”

Criminals had injured Dick Grayson. If they realized Robin’s arm was injured in the same way, then his real identity would be blown.

Batman didn’t change the style of the Batsuit, just the color. Batman figured if everyone was shocked by his costumes in red, blue, yellow and green, then no one would pay attention to Robin and his injury. The superhero duo could then catch the bad guys who injured Robin without revealing his true identity.

While these upcoming figures do represent the Batsuits in the comic, two spectacularly bizarre costumes are missing. In the original comic, Batman wore a black-and-white batsuit with a giant bull’s-eye on his chest and a wacky all-rainbow suit.

The figures will hit stories in August, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $70 for the set.
