Travel with us back to a galaxy far, far away… For the first time in over a decade Alamo Drafthouse is bringing the original Star Wars trilogy roaring back to big screens at movie palaces and performing arts centers across the country this August.  That’s Episode IV – A New Hope, Episode V – RThe Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI – The Return of The Jedi all back on the big screen.

Not only that, but each “Return of the Trilogy” screening will be its own one-of-a-kind event! Some will be galactic-sized triple feature marathons, while others will even take place beneath the actual stars! All shows will feature specially curated videos & clips between films, contests (Jedi mind tricks, anyone?), props to bring the power of the Force to life, and loads of other Star Wars insanity.

While many dates and locations are still to be announced, “Return of the Trilogy” screenings will take place at venues in over 20 cities throughout the month of August. All three of the films will be presented in their 1997 re-release format. Tickets for most markets will go on sale at ReturnOfTheTrilogy.com on May 4th, otherwise known as Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You.

As the description above notes, each one of these screenings will be a special event, with prizes and props and probably all kinds of cool shit that no one’s at liberty to discuss at this juncture. If you’ve ever been to a Rolling Roadshow screening – or, really, any specialty event thrown by the Drafthouse crew – you know you’re in for something great.

Tickets for every screening will go on sale on May the 4th. For the time being, these are the announced dates:
