Candylab Retro Wooden Cars

Candylab Toys harkens back to a simpler time, when playthings were made of solid wood, metal, and rubber opposed to today’s flimsy plastic models.

The Brooklyn, NY based company is dedicated to crafting wooden toy cars that capture the spirit and design of American cars from the 1960s. Models include muscle cars, a police cruiser, a taxi cab, a woody wagon and even an Airstream camper.

The cars are made from solid beech wood, colored with water-based paint and a clear urethane coat. Food-grade rubber tires and ABS plastic rims are designed to handle lots of abuse. Importantly, the designs have all been safety tested to US CPSIA and European, Australian and New Zealand regulations, ensuring the young (or young-at-heart) can play without worry.

These vehicles would look equally good in a child’s toy box or on the travel shelf of a family room bookcase.

Featured above is the Lone Cactus ($25), Woodie ($35), and the Airstream Trailer ($35).
