The Comic Con Museum Announces The Art of Shag Exhibit

The Comic Con Museum in San Diego is teaming up with Josh Agle, the prolific artist known as Shag, to present a look at his works, methods and career.  Imbued with a distinctive attitude and sly sense of humor the works of Shag blend Pop Culture, Tiki Culture and the Mid-Century Modern aesthetic to create unique pieces that are unmistakably of our time, but reminiscent of animation and commercial art from the fifties and sixties.

The exhibit will showcase originals, prints and a sampling of his books and merchandise created throughout his career in a gallery touched by the same wry and colorful sense of retro decadence that features so prominently in the pieces on display.

An exclusive Exhibit Preview event with Shag that benefits the Comic-Con Museum is scheduled for Friday, September 20.

Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, craft cocktails and live music from The Martini Kings while you mingle with Shag in a mid-century inspired lounge space. Tickets are $250 and include a signed limited-edition print, courtesy of The Shag Store and Shag himself.  Act fast, as tickets are extremely limited and will sell out very quickly! Order tickets HERE.

The exhibit is open, free to the public, from 10am – 4pm on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22. The address is 2131 Pan American Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101.
