Hocus Pocus 2 In The Works At Disney+

It has been more than 20 years since the theatrical release of Disney’s fan-favorite classic film Hocus Pocus, and Disney+ is currently in the process of developing a sequel to the 1993 horror-comedy movie. Jen D’Angelo (Workaholics) has signed on to pen the script for the long-awaited Hocus Pocus 2.

Directed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical), the original film was led by multi-award winning actress Bette Midler (The Rose) and four-time Golden Globe winner Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City) along with Kathy Najimy (Sister Act), portraying The film followed the story of a teenage boy, who accidentally brings a trio of villainous Salem witches back to life on Halloween night. Although Hocus Pocus wasn’t a critical and commercial success by the time of its release, it still stood the test of time through countless of annual airings  and has now become a cult classic film.

The streaming service wants D’Angelo to create a way on how Midler, Parker and Najimy could be able to reprise their roles as Winifred, Sarah and Mary in the planned sequel. Even though none of the original stars are currently attached to star in the sequel, Disney is very hopeful to get them involved with Hocus Pocus 2.

Disney‘s upcoming streaming service will become the exclusive home in the U.S. for subscription-video-on-demand viewing of the newest live action and animated series and movies from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and Fox. Set to launch on November 12, the service will be ad-free, supported solely by subscription fees, and will be available on gaming consoles, smart TV’s, and connected streaming devices.
