The Incredible Art of Attack Peter

Yesterday I posted about an intriguing Batman statue by Attack Peter and his style resonated with me so much that I had to learn more about this incredible artist and check out his additional work. Needless to say, I was blown away!

Peter Santa-Maria (AKA Attackpeter) is a Miami-based artist and teacher who specializes in linoleum block printing in which he painstakingly carves sheets of linoleum in reverse and then rolls ink on the raised image to create beautiful prints.

“I draw a design on a piece of material called linoleum, which has a leathery feel,” Santa-Maria shared. “The image has to be drawn in reverse because after I carve out the design, apply the ink and press the paper onto it, it prints a mirror image. It’s a lot like making a stamp.”

Check out some of his amazing pieces of art, I of course am partial to the Batman piece!

He is heavily influenced by traditional imagery from Thailand, American traditional tattoo flash, and his peers. Check out this video in which Santa-Maria discusses his process and showcases his Spider-Man piece at Sideshow Collectibles.

You can purchase his Spider-Man Print on Wood Variant HERE.

You can follow Attack Peter on his homepage, Etsy store, Facebook, Twitter and You Tube.
