Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life In Lyrics

Dolly Parton is exploring the intersection of art and her personal life in a revealing new book, announcing Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.

Set to be published in November of 2020 by Chronicle Books, the first-of-its-kind visual memoir and annotated songbook will take fans inside 175 of Parton’s best-loved songs, digging deep into her writing and placing it within the context of her private life. According to an official announcement, even the country legend’s legions of dedicated followers will learn some new things, discovering “the personal stories behind the lyrics — in her own words — along with never-before-seen photographs and memorabilia, bringing Dolly’s fans closer to her work than ever before.”

“I’m so thrilled to be collaborating with Chronicle Books on Songteller,” Parton says of the project. “A songteller is what I am, and this is my first-ever book of lyrics. So, I’ve revisited my memories and opened up my archives to share the stories and treasures behind them in a way I never have before. It’s going to be a beautiful book!”

Joined as co-author by respected Nashville historian Robert K. Oermann, pre-orders for Dolly Parton, Songteller are available now at Dolly.ChronicleBooks.com. The book lists for $50, and a collector’s edition is also planned in honor of the pop culture icon’s 75th birthday on January 19.
