Marvel is bringing back the Captain America film franchise.
Disney and Marvel Studios are having Malcolm Spellman develop the fourth installment in the series, which is tentatively called Captain America 4. It will take place after the Disney+ show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which Spellman created and ran as showrunner. Also working on writing the script is Dalan Musson, who worked as a staff writer on the television series. No director is currently attached to the project.

No official cast has bounced for the project however the last episode of the Disney+ show opened up plenty of possibilities as to who will take up the Captain America mantle next. Previously, Chris Evans played the superhero Steve Rogers in several Avengers films plus Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War.
Chances are likely that Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson/Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be involved. Falcon currently wields the shield, so that’s the most natural conclusion. Mackie’s co-star, Sebastian Stan is also likely to appear as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier. Seeing how there have been multiple Captain Americas in Marvel lore, and even in the MCU, there are a lot of interesting ways for the film to go.
Finally there are rumors that Chris Evans is in talks to return to the MCU as Steve Rogers but in a separate project. It’s said that Evans would likely appear “in at least one Marvel property, with the door open for a second film” and that the Mackie-led Captain America 4 is separate.
