Daniel Radcliffe is set to play Alfred Matthew “Weird Al” Yankovic in an upcoming film for The Roku Channel, and now fans have their first official look at the star in costume.
In a new photograph released by Roku, Radcliffe can be seen dressed as the iconic musician, complete with large, curly hair, oversized glasses, and a mustache. Radcliffe is also playing a piano accordion, the same instrument Weird Al often plays at concerts and in many songs.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will be directed and executive produced by Eric Appel from a screenplay he co-wrote with Yankovic. It will follow the story of the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time, who has already won five Grammys.
“The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle,” reads the synopsis. “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.”
