This is a “sequel” to the immensely successful “First Ever Major Mondo Print Auction” which was held from November 22, 2020 to December 14, 2020, and in which eMoviePoster.com auctioned 2,331 Mondo and Alamo Drafthouse art prints, with total sales of $732,660.00. Now, Alamo Founder Tim League and eMoviePoster.com have teamed up once again to offer this “Second Ever Major Mondo Print Auction” that runs from October 6, 2022 to October 27, 2022!
How and why did the first 2020 auction come about? You likely have heard of the wonderful Alamo Drafthouse movie theaters (the ones with the great seats, where food is served, and where no talking or cel phones is allowed!), and you also likely have heard of their wonderful “Mondo” limited edition prints, most of which sell out very quickly, and rapidly rise in price.
As you can imagine, the pandemic was very rough on all movie theaters, and the Alamo Drafthouse theaters was no exception. So, as a way to help them get through to the end of the pandemic, Alamo Drafthouse co-founder and Executive Chairman Tim League decided to, for the very first time, hold an auction of prints from his personal collection, a total of 2,331 Mondo limited edition prints, including many long unavailable! and as stated above, the auction, which ended 12/14/2020 took in $732,660.00 and all the proceeds went to help furloughed Alamo Drafthouse employees.
Now, just under two years later, Tim League and eMoviePoster.com are doing it again! HERE is a statement from Tim League explaining all about this second auction.
100% of the proceeds from the sale will go towards the Alamo Community Fund, which supports charitable organizations in each of the communities where there is an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. And eMoviePoster.com has slashed their commission rates, so that they too can help support this most worthwhile cause.
If you have ever bought a Mondo print before, you know how hard it can be, because they are offered at a set time, and those with the “quickest” computer connections win, and those who don’t have that often miss out. But in eMoviePoster.com auctions, the playing field is completely level! You can not be outbid without always having an additional five minutes in which to place a higher bid. You only lose an auction because you choose to stop bidding, not because “time ran out”, as on eBay and with other auctions.
The Mondo auction supporting the Alamo Community Fund will run on emovieposter.com
