General Mills, Inc. is expanding its Monster Cereal portfolio with the debut of Carmella Creeper caramel apple cereal. In addition to the new character and cereal flavor, General Mills is launching Monster Mash Remix Cereal, which features a blend of all the Monster Cereal varieties.
Carmella Creeper is the company’s first female monster and, according to the company, a Zombie DJ who is a cousin of Franken Berry. She joins other Monster Cereal mascots Frute Brute, Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Franken Berry and Yummy Mummy.
The green caramel apple-flavored cereal features purple, pink, orange and yellow marshmallow pieces. It will be available at retailers nationwide later this summer for the suggested retail price of $3.99 (regular) and $4.93 (family size).
The General Mills Monster Cereals have been an annual staple of Halloween since the early 1970s, with Boo Berry, Franken Berry and Count Chocula coming back each year. And then there’s Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy, two additional characters whose cereals have come and gone over the years. We haven’t gotten a new character since Yummy Mummy’s arrival back in 1988, which makes Carmella Creeper the first new Halloween mascot in 35 years.
The zombie-themed character will be the first female cereal monster in the history of the brand.
General Mills details, “Carmella Creeper is the long-lost cousin of Franken Berry as well as a zombie DJ with an edgy sound who is always the life of the party. Complete with a fierce attitude and looks to match, Carmella is ready to shake things up at the Monsters’ haunted mansion with her limited-edition cereal featuring caramel-apple-flavored pieces with colored Monster marshmallows.”
Additionally this Halloween, “The gang is even coming together for the launch of Monster Mash Remix Cereal: A mix of all six Monsters Cereals flavors (Carmella Creeper, Frute Brute, Count Chocula, Boo Berry, Franken Berry and Yummy Mummy).”
