On July 22, 1997, Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece debuted in the Weekly Shōnen Jump anthology magazine. Over the past 26 years, the beloved manga has been turned into a long-running anime series, 15 animated films, 40 video games — and now, its first live-action adaptation out on Netflix August 31.
In the trailer, we meet Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), a rubber-skinned teenager who sets out to become King of the Pirates. As he conquers the sea, Luffy recruits a ragtag crew of misfits to join him onboard, including Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Sanji (Taz Skylar). Calling themselves the Straw Hats, Luffy and his gang sail from island to island in search of the mysterious One Piece treasure. Of course, no adventure is smooth sailing. On their quest, the Straw Hats run into dangerous rivals who stand in their way of hitting the jackpot.
One Piece also stars Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala.
