Cheese lovers, say “Cheez!” Top hats off to those who started petitions, created online groups, and wrote snail mail letters asking Planters to bring back their favorite cheesy snack. Thanks to their dedication over the past twelve years, Planters announces the return of Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls for a limited time.

“We heard many impassioned pleas for us to bring Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls back over the years and we wanted to give our fans a chance to reunite with their most-missed cheesy snack,” said Planters Head of Brand Building Melanie Huet. “We made sure our Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls still have the same delicious taste, airy texture and fluorescent color you know and love, so our fans can enjoy a nostalgic trip down memory lane with every canister.”

Beginning in July, fans everywhere will have the chance to purchase their own Planters Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls for a limited time. Planters Cheez Balls are sold in 2.75 ounce canisters and Cheez Curls are sold in 4-ounce canisters and will roll out on grocery store shelves nationwide starting at a suggested retail price of $1.99.

The lucky winners found the canisters on popular auction and e-commerce sites this last month within 24 hours, proving fans will do anything to try their favorite snack again.

This week, Mr. Peanut is rewarding a few of the fans who went above and beyond to help bring Cheez Balls back by giving them one of the first deliveries of their favorite ‘90s snack. Walt Disney’s Disneyland By Chris Nichols

This bountiful visual history draws on Disney’s vast archives, private collections, and the golden age of photojournalism to provide unique access to the concept, development, and launch of the Anaheim, California oasis of fun and fantasy. It documents Walt’s earliest inspirations and ideas; the park’s extraordinary feats of design and engineering; its grand opening; each of its immersive “lands” from Main Street, U.S.A. to Tomorrowland; and the evolution of the park in the six decades since it opened.

It is a treasure trove of Disney original documentation and expertise, with award-winning writer Chris Nichols drawing on his extensive knowledge of both Disneyland and Southern California history to reveal the fascinating tale of “the happiest place on Earth.”

“One of these days I’m going to build an amusement park!” Walt Disney dreamed for decades about opening the ultimate entertainment venue, but it wasn’t until the early 1950s that his handpicked team began to bring his vision to life. Together, artists, architects, and engineers transformed a dusty tract of orange groves into one of the world’s most beloved destinations, one that every child in America begs to visit.

Today, there are Disney resorts from Paris to Shanghai, but the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California, remains one of America’s most popular attractions, drawing over 16 million visitors each year. From the day it opened on July 17, 1955, Disneyland brought history and fairy tales to life, the future into the present, and far-off cultures and even farther galaxies right before our eyes.

The 352 page book will be published by Taschen in the summer of 2018.

Watch The Predator Trailer

20th Century Fox has released a brand new red band trailer for Shane Black‘s sequel The Predator.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

The Predator cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski.

Black, who wrote the script with his Monster Squad co-writer Fred Dekker, has confirmed that the film remains in the continuity of the first two movies and isn’t a full reboot of the series. He said there is a reference in the script as to why the film has a singular title, and that the film will carry an R rating.

The original Predator was directed by John McTiernan and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a United States special forces team that comes under attack from an alien entity that prizes the thrill of the hunt above all else. It was followed by a direct sequel, Predator 2, in 1990 before crossing over with Fox’s Alien franchise for two additional sequels, Alien vs. Predator and AvP: Requiem. In 2010, Nimrod Antal helmed a reboot with a new feature, Predators.

The Predator will open in theaters on September 14.

Square-Jawed Justice Returns To Comics In Dick Tracy: Dead Or Alive

One of the most iconic comic-strip heroes of all time is back in action, courtesy of IDW Publishing’s new series, Dick Tracy: Dead or Alive! Reimagined for the 21st century through a retro lens by the superstar team of Michael Allred, Lee Allred, Rich Tommaso, and Laura Allred, the four-issue miniseries launches in September… so criminals had best beware!

In Dick Tracy: Dead or Alive, the All-American detective just made the biggest collar of his career… and it only cost him his job. Now, the honest cop has packed his bags for “the city by the lake,” and its criminal community is firmly in his sights! Featuring cover art and co-written by Eisner Award-winning superstar Michael Allred (Madman, iZombie, Silver Surfer), the new series features strange villains, crooked cops, and gunfights galore.

“Dick Tracy is an instantly recognizable old-school icon, like Mickey Mouse and Superman, but he’s been out of the spotlight awhile and due for a curtain call. We want to shake it up and show the glow in the 21st Century,” says Michael Allred. “I always get a big kick working with my first-ever collaborator and big brother, Lee Allred, as well as my favorite colorist and favorite wife, Laura. But I’m crazy excited about working with Rich Tommaso! He is one of the most innovative and thrilling cartoonists working in comics. I’m lit up with giddy shock that he’s letting me slop ink on his beautifully rendered pencils, keeping me on my toes to do the work justice on this thrilling series!”

Co-writer Lee Allred says, “Dead or Alive pits Dick Tracy, champion of Law and Order, against not only brutal crime bosses but the corrupted forces of the Law itself. Every hand, cop, and crook will be against Tracy as he battles the enemies of true justice. With Rich, Mike, and Laura as the art team, classic crime drama has never looked so good.”

“I am thrilled to try my hand at drawing this legendary, pulpy, hardboiled crime classic,” says penciller Rich Tommaso (Spy Seal, Dry County). “Along with Roy Crane, Milton Caniff, Noel Sickles, Jack Cole, and Alex Toth, Chester Gould is a cartoonist that I am perpetually inspired by when I’m working on my own crime stories. So, this is a project that I feel is well within my wheelhouse. The Dick Tracy cast of characters makes this comic so much fun to draw on a daily basis. I only hope we can all bring something great to the comic ourselves while, simultaneously keeping true to its origins. Not an easy feat to be sure, but I feel it’s damn worth a try.”

Since 1931, Chester Gould’s Dick Tracy has thrilled millions with tales of good guys versus bad guys, while showcasing the latest criminology techniques and old-fashioned values. Throughout the years, the quintessential detective had numerous partners and sent thousands of rogues either to the slammer or their graves, but there were always more bizarre, out-of-this-world villains (with funny names and hideous faces) to pursue.

Could Kronos Appear in Avengers 4?

(image: Comic Vine)

The ending of Avengers: Infinity War left audiences stunned. With over a year until the release of Avengers 4, a lot of fan theories are spreading. One viable theory is the possible appearance of Kronos, a minor yet powerful character in the comic books.

In Puerto Rico Comic Con 2018, writer/artist Jim Starlin mentioned that many of his creations will appear in Avengers 4. Starlin created the villain Thanos and his series, The Infinity Gauntlet, is the basis for Infinity War. Die-hard fans simply narrowed everything down to characters that appeared in the comics but weren’t included in the movie – Adam Warlock, Eros, Kronos, Pip the Troll, and Mentor.

Out of all these characters, the appearance of Kronos in the next Avengers film makes for a strong argument. Movie Web explains that Kronos is one of the founders of Titan, the home planet of Thanos. Kronos’ body was destroyed in a scientific accident, but he lived on as an energy being who could manipulate time. In the comics, he’s the grandfather of Thanos.

Kronos’ connection to Thanos and his time travel abilities may serve as a lead in for the character into Avengers 4. (Spoilers ahead) At the end of Infinity War, the Avengers failed to stop Thanos from killing off half the universe’s population. Granted, Avengers 4 will likely revolve around the survivors restoring the status quo. Still, it won’t be as simple as forcing Thanos to revert everything back to normal. Sharp-eyed fans noticed that the Infinity Gauntlet was seriously damaged. This means time travel through other means will be required. Maybe the Avengers will find Kronos who gives them a chance to change history.

Kronos has always been a character that evoked awe for centuries. In Greek mythology, he is the god of time and ruler of the cosmos. Theoi Greek Mythology describes him as “a destructive, all devouring force.” This is one of the reasons why to this day, comic book creators and game developers like to use the character as inspiration. Foxy Bingo uses his fearsome visage in their Kronos slots game and he looms over gamers as they play. The detailed depiction of the character demands the user’s attention. Ensemble Studios also incorporated Kronos in Age of Mythology: The Titans, and their version stays true to the myth. In the game, he’s a monstrous antagonist with the ability to shift time. With this kind of resume, Kronos could leave a lasting impression on MCU fans. And even if he doesn’t make his debut in Avengers 4, there will be other Marvel movies where he can be introduced.

Comics and movies have always been heavily intertwined. It’s getting to the point where many audiences can’t tell which medium these characters came from. This trend will likely continue with the arrival of new comic books based on TV shows/movies or vice-versa. For more news, check out Firewire’s report on the upcoming Stranger Things comic book series.
