THE FIRE WIRE Publishes Its 10,000th Post!

I began writing my blog, THE FIRE WIRE In April 2008 on a rainy day in Portland, Oregon and this week I am celebrating my 10,000th post! Man that’s a lot of articles…

I want to personally thank all of the followers and readers of my website! I truly am appreciative of you taking time out of your busy day to check out my site and hopefully I have kept you informed about my pop culture passions and entertained.

Because of the blog I have had some wonderful experiences tsuch as meeting Stephen King, Joe Hill, Kevin Smith, James Cameron, John Lasetter, Stan Lee, Adam West, Drew Struzan, Jim Lee, Neil Gaiman and countless others.

I’ve been fortunate to tour Pixar Studios, attend lots of movie premieres and sneak previews, rub elbows with fellow geek enthusiasts at Comic Con, WonderCon and D23, rock out at some fun concerts and get interviewed for a couple of documentaries.

I have been honored to meet wonderful artists, comic book creators, fantastic authors, talented musicians and most importantly developed lifelong friendships with many of my readers. You guys rock!

I joke with my wife that I never want any gifts for the holidays because everyday is like Christmas with unexpected packages at my front door awaiting to be unboxed! It could be a shiny new Apple gadget, an advanced readers copy of an upcoming novel, a new CD to check out or a poster tube stuffed with incredible art to adorn my office walls. I truly am blessed and I LOVE this hobby!

To celebrate my 10,000th post I have something very special planned for later this summer that will take place in Los Angeles! It’s my small way to give back to all of YOU who have supported me. I will post more details over the next few weeks so please make sure to follow me on facebook and twitter for future announcements!

Butter Sculptures, Robot Pancakes & Floating Darth Vader

My nephew Ben, who happens to turn 10 tomorrow (Happy Birthday!) is THE FIRE WIRE’s youngest correspondent. You might remember his riveting video review of the Perplexus. Ben who lives in South Portland, Maine was kind enough to scour the internet and find some pretty cool things that are really interesting. So I thought that I would share them with you.

And who knows, maybe we can coax Ben to make this a weekly occurrence?

Thank You For Your Support In 2008

To Friends, Family and Readers,

Thank you all for your kind support in 2008.  I truly appreciate you reading my blog and sharing the link with your friends.  My initial goal with The Fire Wire was to have a single online location that I could invite friends and family to that featured articles on things that I was interested in or thought they might find interesting.  It saved me time on sending multiple e-mails.  Fortunately, readership grew and the blog became a little more eclectic.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!  If you have any suggestions for the upcoming year or just want to say hi, please comment below.

I am very excited for 2009 as our first child; a daughter will be born in the Spring.  We cannot wait to welcome our little girl into the world.

I wish you and your families a very safe, healthy and Happy New Year.

Warmest Regards,
