Check Out The New Doctor Sleep Poster

Warner Bros. released a new Doctor Sleep poster teasing Danny Torrance’s (Ewan McGregor) return to the Overlook Hotel where his nightmare began.

Doctor Sleep continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King.

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality. Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

Adapted from Stephen King’s bestselling sequel, the movie stars Ewan McGregor (Star Wars: Episodes I, II & III, T2 Trainspotting) as Dan Torrance, Rebecca Ferguson (the Mission: Impossible films, The Greatest Showman) as Rose the Hat, and Kyliegh Curran, in her major feature film debut, as Abra. The main ensemble cast also includes Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe and Cliff Curtis.

Doctor Sleep was written and directed by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House). Trevor Macy and Jon Berg produced the film, with Roy Lee, Scott Lumpkin, Akiva Goldsman and Kevin McCormick serving as executive producers.

Doctor Sleep will arrive in theaters on November 8.

Jim Carrey To Publish First Novel Memoirs And Misinformation In May

Jim Carrey has written a novel, Memoirs And Misinformation, that will be published by Alfred A. Knopf in May 2020. Carrey wrote the book in collaboration with novelist Dana Vachon. The novel will be published by Knopf in hardcover and eBook, and by Penguin Random House Audio, on May 5, 2020.

Memoirs And Misinformation is a fearless and semi-autobiographical deconstruction of persona. Carrey and Vachon have fashioned a narrative about acting, Hollywood, agents, celebrity, privilege, friendship, loneliness, romance, addiction to relevance, fear of personal erasure, growing up in Canada, and a cataclysmic ending of the world — apocalypses within and without.

“Jim Carrey has written a novel that is more revealing about his life than any memoir could possibly be,” said Sonny Mehta, Editor in Chief of Knopf. “It is a perceptive and highly entertaining book about the arc of fame, as well as a look inside the mind of an artist, the life that shaped him, and the world he inhabits.”

“None of this is real and all of it is true,” said Mr. Carrey.

Mr. Carrey will be making national media appearances, as well as touring, in support of the book.

Scholastic Announces Title And Cover For New Novel In The Hunger Games Series By Suzanne Collins

Scholastic announced the title and cover for the much-anticipated new novel in the worldwide bestselling The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins – the first new Hunger Games book since Mockingjay, published in 2010.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be published May 19, 2020, with a World English first printing of 2.5 million copies. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be published simultaneously in print, digital and audio formats by Scholastic in the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, translation rights to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes have been sold by Stimola Literary Studio into 28 territories to date.

“It has been thrilling to see the growing excitement from readers around the globe for this new Hunger Games novel.” said Ellie Berger, President, Scholastic Trade. “Suzanne Collins is an expert storyteller and world-builder, and in revisiting the world of Panem, she again raises important questions about authority, the use of violence, and the truth of human nature.”

“This cover does an extraordinary job of capturing the conflict—both inner and outer—that lies at the heart of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” said David Levithan, VP, Publisher, and Editorial Director for Scholastic. “The mockingjay has returned, but at a new angle . . . which is very much in line with the story that Suzanne Collins is telling.”

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will revisit the world of Panem sixty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the Tenth Hunger Games.

On returning to the world of The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins said, “With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival. The reconstruction period ten years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days—as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet—provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.”
