Cold Brew Coffee: Consumable In Every Season

Every coffee lover has their preference for the type of coffee they drink. Some love consuming iced coffee, while others want a warm cup of it. But the technique in which it is made matters as the taste can change drastically. There are different types of coffee for cold brew and some of them can taste better than the others.

There are also different types of coffees available for hot brew coffee, but if you wish to consume a warm cup of coffee, then you can enjoy it through cold brewed coffee as well.

What is the Difference Between Cold Brew and Hot Brew Coffee?

The biggest difference between cold brew and hot brew coffee is the equipment used. Each of them has its own set of equipment; some are harder to come by compared to the other.

Hot brew coffee: Hot coffee needs heat, and for the heat, you will need an electric coffee maker. If you purchase whole beans, then you also need coffee grinders, or you can get a kettle for some variability to your batch of coffee.

There are a variety of brewing techniques used for hot coffee, such as French press, pour-over, drip, and AeroPress. There are many more options available, each of them is of a different price point.

Cold brew coffee: Cold brew coffee is different from iced coffee. For cold brew coffee, you do not need heat to make your concentrate; all you need is clean cold water, a storage vessel, and some patience. You can easily make cold brew coffee from store-bought coffee grounds.

However, if you wish to gain more control over the amount you make, you could purchase cold brew coffee makers that can be stored in your fridge or placed on your countertop. Grinders can be important as well, especially if you will be using some machine to create your cold brew.

Many people prefer French press for cold brew coffee, or they use a mason jar to immerse their coffee beans. There are also some slow drip systems available in markets.

Brewing Process

Hot brew coffee: Hot brew coffee can be made in less than ten minutes since you do not need to let the coffee steep for a long period of time. You simply need to add the ground to your coffee maker, and the hot water from the coffee maker will be poured over the grounds.

Cold brew coffee: This type of brewing technique requires you to be patient since it takes a lot longer than hot coffee. You will have to prepare your coffee in advance instead of making it early in the morning. The coffee needs to steep for two to twenty-four hours.

Cold brew coffee is now the number one choice for several people. It may not be easy to make, but it creates less of a mess since there is less waste created. Cold-brew coffee also does not spoil for up to two weeks if kept in the fridge; thus, allowing you to make more of the concentrate without having to steep the coffee for twenty-four hours.

Change The Whirled: Ben & Jerry’s And Colin Kaepernick Created A New Flavor

Ben & Jerry’s was inspired by Colin Kaepernick’s bold activism for racial justice that they did what they do best: The Vermont based ice cream company whipped up a euphoric flavor to honor his work.

Ben & Jerry’s Colin Kaepernick’s Change The Whirled Non-Dairy is made with sunflower butter and is 100% certified vegan, just like Kaepernick himself. And Kaepernick’s portion of the proceeds go to Know Your Rights Camp, an organization he founded to empower Black and Brown youth and elevate the voices of the next generation of racial justice leaders. Know Your Rights Camp hosts free camps across America and internationally, engaging Black and Brown youth around social justice issues through education and self-empowerment.

Ben & Jerry’s is proud to be working with a dedicated activist like Colin Kaepernick, whose work helped spark the international conversation around racial justice. Follow the graham cracker and chocolate cookie swirls as you dig into this cara-melt-in-your-mouth vegan dessert masterpiece and consider how you, too, can help change the whirled.

The new flavor will hit store shelves in early 2021.

The Best Sandwich In Every State

On this list, you will not necessarily find the most fashionable or visually appealing sandwiches. Food and Wine wanted to pick only icons and legends, the sandwiches that have stood the test of time.

They wanted the ones with an extreme sense of belonging, the sandwiches people would fight for, and possibly over.

As an example, the Pastrami Sandwich from California’s Langer’s Deli:

If anyone asks you what the 1970s were like in Los Angeles, drag them down—immediately, if not sooner—to Langer’s Deli, the best Jewish deli in America, for the pastrami. The setting is vintage coffee shop, a bright, mid-century beauty sitting just off of MacArthur Park in the middle of one of the West Coast’s most densely populated neighborhoods. Besides Katz’s in New York, you won’t find many classic delis serving hand-carved, thick-cut pastrami this delicate, this delicious. The house double-baked rye dusted with cornmeal and sliced continuously throughout the day is nearly unequaled in its class. The menu is a cavalcade of stars, and that #19 sandwich—pastrami with swiss cheese, coleslaw, and dressing—is a beauty, but you owe it to the meat, the bread, and yourself to start simply, with just pastrami on rye. Maybe a little mustard. Mustard would be fine.

Ben & Jerry’s Introduces Doggie Desserts

For the first time in the ice cream company’s history, Ben & Jerry’s is unveiling two new flavors designed exclusively for canines. Doggie Desserts by Ben & Jerry’s are tasty frozen treats that are paws-itively perfect for your pet, specifically formulated for dogs with a sunflower butter base. The frozen fun of peanut butter & pretzel swirls in “Pontch’s Mix” or the cool creaminess of pumpkin and mini cookies in “Rosie’s Batch” is just what a good dog needs after a raucous puppy playdate or a long walk with their human. All of the high-quality ingredients used in Doggie Desserts can be found in current Ben & Jerry’s ice cream recipes.

“Pontch’s Mix” and “Rosie’s Batch” were named after two real dogs in the Ben & Jerry’s office—an affectionate Frenchie and a rescue mutt of mixed heritage. As a dog-friendly workplace, the Ben & Jerry’s headquarters in Vermont often has up to 40 pups curled up under desks, keeping employees company. They’re all part of the K9 to 5-er crew that adds a little joy to the office atmosphere.

In addition to the two new Doggie Desserts, Ben & Jerry’s has partnered with like-minded suppliers to offer must-have pet accessories like a 6′ custom tie dye leash made from recycled water bottles and a plush cone toy stuffed with recycled fill. Limited quantities are available at

Doggie Desserts will be sold individually in 4-oz mini cups or in 4-count multipacks, with a suggested retail price of $2.99 and $4.99. They will be found in supermarkets, mass retailers, and select pet stores nationwide. Learn more at and be sure to follow @BenandJerrysDogs on Instagram.

No bones about it, Doggie Desserts are a dog’s new best friend. We’ll have to pick some up for our dog Ginsburg and have her try it out!
