What To Discover At The Tropical Hideaway In Disneyland Park

Earlier this year, Disney Parks announced that guests will soon discover a new area of Adventureland at Disneyland park called The Tropical Hideaway. Today, we have a bit more to share with all you curious explorers!

This new spot will serve as an exotic marketplace for discovering extraordinary eats from all corners of the world. A variety of unique food and beverage items will be available for adventurous palates of all types!

With its proximity to the Jungle Cruise, you never know what appetizing goods will be available in the trader’s market! Imagine tempting your taste buds with one of the many market eats, such as a warm steamed bao bun. These unique bao buns will come in three different types – Spiced Vegetable Bao, Kaffir Lime Chicken Bao, and Bulgogi Beef Bao. You can also try a delicious chilled ramen salad or grab a tropical-inspired snack. And for a sweet treat, you can try Sweet Pineapple Lumpia, a spring roll filled with pineapple and sweet cream cheese!

After picking up a snack or two, choose a spot on the open-air dock, soak in the sights of the Jungle River waterfront, sit back, and listen to the musical sounds of the tropics – all while experiencing delicious new tastes! After the sun goes down, flickering torch lights will illuminate the area, transforming The Tropical Hideaway into an enchanting nighttime venue.

More surprises await you at The Tropical Hideaway, opening later this year.

McDonald’s Opened A New Flagship Restaurant In Chicago That Resembles An Apple Store

McDonald’s newest restaurant is making a bold statement about the future of the chain.

McDonald’s opened a new flagship restaurant in Chicago. It’s a glassy, 19,000-square-foot building that looks more like an Apple Store than a fast-food restaurant — and that’s exactly what the company intended.

“We are proud to open the doors to this flagship restaurant, which symbolizes how we are building a better McDonald’s for our customers and the communities where they live,” McDonald’s President and CEO Steve Easterbrook said in a statement.

While the structure may be different, the Golden Arches are still present at the restaurant, which will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The restaurant features self-order kiosks, table service, mobile order and pay, and delivery — services that are becoming increasingly mainstream at McDonald’s locations across the US.

Table service and increased digital ordering options are part of McDonald’s “Experience of the Future” revamp. Currently, roughly 5,000 restaurants fit the qualifications, and McDonald’s plans to transform almost all restaurants by 2020.

The restaurant also highlights something else McDonald’s is pushing in an effort to remake its image: sustainability. It has more than 70 trees at the ground level, as well as on-site solar panels.

The restaurant was designed by the Chicago-based firm Ross Barney Architects. While not every McDonald’s is going to look quite so classy and glassy, the combination of more tech, table service, and an emphasis on sustainability provides a blueprint of what the fast-food giant wants to roll out across America.

The Sparrow Mart, A Los Angeles Pop Up Shop Filled With Felt Versions of 31,000 Supermarket Items

Introducing Sparrow Mart, Lucy Sparrow’s felt reimagining of the LA supermarket, open August 1-31st at The Standard, Downtown LA. It’s her largest exhibition to date, with over 31,000 hand-painted and sewn versions of every grocery item imaginable, all available for purchase (some even as low as $5!). 

Think fruit, vegetables, sushi, fish, meat, frozen food, candy, liquor, and a health and beauty department. Sparrow Mart even has a VHS section, featuring ’80s classics like ‘Footloose’, ‘Dirty Dancing’, and ‘Short Circuit’.

Ben Affleck & Matt Damon Win Rights To McDonald’s Monopoly Game Theft Story

Ben Affleck (The Town), Matt Damon (The Martian), and Fox have won the rights to an article written by Jeff Maysh titled “How An Ex-Cop Rigged McDonald’s Monopoly Game And Stole Millions” after an intense auction. Affleck is set to direct the feature based on the true crime story that was published in The Daily Beast, with Damon set to star.

The true story centers on an ex-cop, Jerome Jacobson, in Rhode Island who rigged the McDonald’s Monopoly Game and allegedly stole over $24 million. Jacobson apparently shared the stolen money with a group of co-conspirators who offered bribes to the ex-cop. Maysh’s article details how Jacobson fell under the FBI’s gaze after years of he and his network illegally rigging the game to steal millions. Using undercover agents, the FBI sent in a camera crew to Jacobson’s home to listen to his fraudulent story of how he supposedly legitimately won the game, recording every lie.

Jacobson, who acted as head of security for a Los Angeles company that was responsible for generating the game pieces, worked with an interesting group of co-conspirators that consisted of mobsters, a psychic, strip-club owners, drug traffickers, and even a Mormon family who helped steal $24 million in cash and prizes.

The film based on the McDonald’s Monopoly Game theft will be written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool) and produced by The Pearl Street partners. David Klawans (Argo) is set to executive produce the feature. Matt Reilly will oversee the project for Fox while Madison Ainley steers it for Pearl Street.

McDonald’s Unveils Collectible, Limited Edition MacCoin To Celebrate 50 Years of The Big Mac

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Big Mac, McDonald’s unveiled the MacCoin, a limited edition global currency backed by the internationally iconic Big Mac that fans across the world can get their hands on starting August 2 to share, collect or redeem. Beginning at lunch time on August 2, customers can receive a MacCoin with the purchase of a Big Mac at 14,000 participating restaurants across the U.S., while supplies last. Starting on August 3 through 2018, customers can redeem their MacCoin for a free Big Mac at participating McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. and in more than 50 participating countries.

More than 6.2 million MacCoins will be distributed globally in more than 50 countries while supplies last. These commemorative coins feature five unique designs, each representing a decade of the Big Mac. Each MacCoin design pulls in elements from that time in history, nodding to art, music and pop culture, while the front-side of the MacCoin celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Big Mac. 

The MacCoin highlights:

– The ‘70s, showcasing the decade’s flower power
– The ‘80s alluding to pop art
– The ‘90s defined with bold, abstract shapes
– The early ‘00s specifically focusing on the technology that was at the forefront of the turn of the century
– The ‘10s MacCoin calling attention to the evolution of communication

In its 50 years, the legendary taste of the Big Mac has helped it achieve universal recognition and a lasting legacy. Lay’s Releasing 8 Regionally Inspired Potato Chip Flavors

Lay’s is releasing eight new potato chip flavors that are regionally inspired and the bags will be in grocery stores from July 30th through September 23rd.

The new flavors are:

Cajun Spice: Inspired by the flavors of the Gulf Coast, and the flavor celebration will take place at the Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival in Morgan City, LA., from August 31 – September 2.

Chili Con Queso: Inspired by the Tex-Mex of the Southwest. The flavor celebration will take place at the Houston Food Fest on August 18.

Chesapeake Bay Crab Spice: Inspired by the Atlantic. The flavor celebration will take place at Chesapeake Crab & Beer Festival in National Harbor, MD., on August 18.

Deep Dish Pizza: Inspired by the Midwest. The flavor celebration will take place at Navy Pier in Chicago, IL., on August 11.

Fried Pickles with Ranch: Another Midwest inspiration. The flavor celebration will take place at Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, MO., from August 16 – 18.

New England Lobster Roll: Obviously inspired by the Northeast. The flavor celebration will take place at Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland, ME., from August 1 – 5.

Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries Are Coming Back To Reveal The Future “Demolition Man” Predicted

After making the biggest debut in Taco Bell history in January, the hugely popular Nacho Fries are back for a summer sequel, returning to menus July 12. To celebrate their return, Taco Bell will honor the 25th Anniversary of Warner Bros. Pictures’ action sci-fi film Demolition Man, and its prediction of a utopian future where “all restaurants are Taco Bell,” with a re-creation of the iconic restaurant from the movie.

“When you create a fake trailer for a fake movie for a real product that surpasses all expectations of products (and movie trailers), it seems inevitable that you have to create a sequel,” said Marisa Thalberg, Chief Brand Officer of Taco Bell Corp. “And what better way to tease this sequel, than pay homage to a real movie’s 25th anniversary – one that had a very compelling view of a fictional future?”

Demolition Man, a 1993 Warner Bros. Pictures’ cult-classic in its own right, gained fame for its utopian predictions of 2032 – where Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the Franchise Wars. But since the film’s release 25 years ago – one question remains unanswered: how?

Leading up to the July 12 return of Nacho Fries, answers will be revealed with exciting creative in the sequel to Web of Fries I. Culminating with a Demolition Man pop-up and a futuristic and upscale Taco Bell dining experience July 19 – 21 in San Diego just outside the holy-grail of science fiction. More details and sneak peeks into the experience to follow.

To prepare for Web of Fries II and the utopian future, fans are encouraged to follow along using the hashtag #NachoFries. Taco Bell is also offering fans the chance to watch the 1993 Demolition Man movie for free via FandangoNOW. From now until June 28, fans can catch up on the delicious future that the film predicted. Nacho Fries will be available for a limited time a la carte for $1.29 and also served Supreme for $2.49 or BellGrande for $3.49, topped with classic Taco Bell add-ons including beef, nacho cheese sauce, tomatoes and sour cream and also in a $5 box with Nacho Fries, a Doritos Locos Taco, a Beefy 5-Layer Burrito and Medium Drink.

Dunkin’ Donuts Is Bringing Donut Fries Nationwide

Just ahead of the July 4th holiday, Dunkin’ Donuts is bringing Donut Fries across America. Following a successful test earlier this year, Dunkin’ Donuts announced it will now bring new Donut Fries to guests all throughout the country, available for a limited time at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide beginning Monday, July 2.  

Dunkin’ Donuts’ newest snack serves a sweet spin on classic fries, creating a fun, easy-to-eat way to enjoy the delight of donuts while on the go any time of day. Donut Fries feature individual pieces of delicious, buttery croissant style donut dough that are tossed in cinnamon sugar and served warm with just the right amount of crisp. Perfect for sharing, five Donut Fries come with each order, served at a special price of $2.

Dunkin’ Donuts tested Donut Fries at a small number of locations in the Boston and Providence markets earlier this year. According to Tony Weisman, Chief Marketing Officer, Dunkin’ Donuts U.S., “As America’s donut leader, we put our passion and creativity towards finding fun and unexpected ways to please and surprise donut fans. Thanks To Popular Demand, Planters Cheez Balls & Cheez Curls Are Back

Cheese lovers, say “Cheez!” Top hats off to those who started petitions, created online groups, and wrote snail mail letters asking Planters to bring back their favorite cheesy snack. Thanks to their dedication over the past twelve years, Planters announces the return of Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls for a limited time.

“We heard many impassioned pleas for us to bring Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls back over the years and we wanted to give our fans a chance to reunite with their most-missed cheesy snack,” said Planters Head of Brand Building Melanie Huet. “We made sure our Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls still have the same delicious taste, airy texture and fluorescent color you know and love, so our fans can enjoy a nostalgic trip down memory lane with every canister.”
