Taco Bell Debuts Its Longest Shell Ever With The Triplelupa

Taco Bell is no stranger to giving fans more of what they love, and now the latest reinvention of the iconic Chalupa gives fans three times the reason to get excited. Launching for a limited time in participating restaurants nationwide on March 12, the Triplelupa serves up a hands on experience with three mini Chalupas featuring three flavors and double the seasoned beef compared to a regular Chalupa.

Combining three mini chalupas to create the longest shell in Taco Bell history, the Triplelupa marks Taco Bell’s first ever tear-apart menu item. It takes all elements of the Chalupa to the next level with different flavors in each of its mini shells: Nacho Cheese on one end, Chipotle on the other, and a combination of the two, Cheesy Chipotle, in the middle. The Triplelupa starts at $3.49 plus tax.

For the Triplelupa’s nationwide debut, Taco Bell is partnering with a brand known for serving up its own reinventions –TikTok. The short-form mobile video platform serves as the framework for the Tripleupa’s national TV spot and is the first time TikTok has partnered with a brand on a national advertising campaign. Shot in TikTok’s full screen, vertical video format, the ad spot follows the creative, unexpected and joyful content the TikTok community is celebrated for.

The brand is encouraging fans to jump in on the fun by participating in an upcoming Taco Bell hashtag challenge on TikTok and plans to announce more details about the challenge in the coming weeks. Taco Bell will also be partnering with select TikTok creators to inspire fans to reinvent something themselves and share it on the platform.

What New Food & Beverages Will They Serve At Disneyland’s Avengers Campus?

Even superheroes get hungry. When Disneyland’s Avengers Campus opens later this summer, visitors will be able to try all sorts of Avenger-approved foods and beverages — including intergalactic desserts, scientifically shrunken entrees, and of course, shawarma, perfect for refueling after saving New York City from an alien invasion.

Quantum Pretzel

The main restaurant on campus is the Pym Test Kitchen, where food and drinks have been blown up and shrunken down using Hank Pym’s signature Pym particles. First up is a 396-gram Bavarian-style pretzel, served with mustard and beer cheese dipping sauce.

Impossible Spoonful

The plant-based meatballs and pasta shapes in the Impossible Spoonful are a mix of extra-large and extra-tiny sizes, all served in the biggest spoon you’ve ever seen.

Not So Little Chicken Sandwich

The crispy chicken breast in this chicken sandwich has been blown up to enormous proportion and served with teriyaki and red chili sauces, pickled cabbage slaw, and crispy potato tots.

PB3 Superb Sandwich

This Pym Particle-infused sandwich mixed peanut butter, banana, smoked bacon, and strawberry jelly, and it’s served with tots and a banana smoothie shot.

PYM-ini

Named for Pym Test Kitchen’s scientist founder, the Pym-ini is an extra large sandwich served on toasted ciabatta with salami, rosemary ham, provolone, sun-dried tomato mayonnaise, arugula, and marinara dipping sauce.

X-Periment, Molecular Meltdown, Honey Buzz, And Particle Fizz

Adjacent to the Pym Test Kitchen is the Pym Tasting Lab, where adults can grab both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Snack Molecules

Over at the Pym Tasting Lab, patrons can grab this assortment of popped sorghum, mini pretzels, and honey roasted peanuts, served in a petri dish.

The Regulator

Among the Pym Tasting Lab options is the Regulator, which mixes Patron Silver tequila, lime juice, habanero and mango syrup, Golden Road Mango Cart wheat ale, and mango popping pearls.

Proton PB&J Punch And Pingo Doce Soda

The non-alcoholic menu includes options like lemonade-peanut-butter punch and Pingo Doce soda — a glowing green reference to 2008’s Incredible Hulk movie.

Sweet Spiral Ration

Near the Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission Breakout ride, the Collector, a.k.a. Taneleer Tivan, has set up a stand called Terran Treats, where he hawks exotic, intergalactic foods. Among them is the Sweet Spiral Ration, a churro-like dessert with unexpected flavors.

Cosmic Cream Orb

Also available at Terran Treats is the Infinity Stone-esque Cosmic Cream Orb, a crispy cream puff filled with raspberry cheesecake mousse.

Here’s How To Make Kevin’s Famous Chili From The Office

In celebration of National Chili Day and The Office’s upcoming 15th anniversary, Entertainment Weekly looks back at the time Dunder Mifflin’s bumbling accountant Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) lugged in a huge pot of his famous chili to share with his co-workers — and spilled it all over the floor.

“At least once a year, I like to bring in some of my Kevin’s Famous Chili,” he says in the season 5 episode “Casual Friday” (watch a clip below). “The trick is to undercook the onions. Everybody is going to get to know each other in the pot. I’m serious about this stuff. I’m up the night before, pressing garlic and dicing whole tomatoes. I toast my own ancho chilies. It’s a recipe passed down from Malones for generations — it’s probably the thing I do best.”

When The Office shot this classic cold open, they just used Hormel chili from a can. EW took it one step further and faithfully recreated Kevin’s family dish. (Recipe developed by Adam Hickman.)

Kevin’s Famous Chili Recipe

4 dried ancho chiles (about 1 3/4 oz.)
2 Tbsp. canola oil
3 lbs. 85/15 lean ground beef
2 cups coarsely chopped yellow onion (from 1 [12-oz.] onion)
1/4 cup coarsely chopped jalapeño chile (from 1 [2-oz.] chile)
8 large garlic cloves
1 Tbsp. dried oregano
2 (12-oz.) bottles lager beer
3 (15-oz.) cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 to 2 Tbsp. water
3 cups beef stock
2 1/2 cups finely chopped plum tomatoes (from 3 large tomatoes)
2 Tbsp. kosher salt
4 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded (about 1 cup)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup sliced scallions (from 2 scallions)

1. Tear ancho chiles into large pieces, discarding seeds and stems. Place ancho chiles in a Dutch oven. Cook over medium high, stirring occasionally, until very fragrant, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer ancho chiles to a food processor; process until very finely ground, about 1 minute. Remove, and set aside.

2. Add oil to Dutch oven, and heat over medium high. Add half of the ground beef; cook, stirring occasionally to break beef into small pieces, until well browned, about 6 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer beef from Dutch oven to a plate, and set aside. Repeat with remaining beef.

3. Pulse onion in a food processor until finely chopped, about 5 pulses. Remove from food processor, and set aside. Add onion to Dutch oven, and cook over medium high, stirring occasionally, 2 minutes. (Onion will be undercooked.) Remove from heat.

4. Process jalapeño in a food processor until finely chopped, about 30 seconds. Finely grate garlic using a Microplane grater (or press with a garlic press). Add ground ancho chiles, finely chopped jalapeño, grated garlic and oregano to Dutch oven; cook over medium high, stirring occasionally, until jalapeño starts to soften, about 2 minutes. Add beer; cook 7 minutes, stirring and scraping occasionally to loosen any browned bits from bottom of Dutch oven.

5. Meanwhile, place beans and 1 tablespoon of the water in food processor, and process until smooth, about 1 minute. (If necessary, add remaining 1 tablespoon water, and process until smooth.)

6. Add pureed beans, stock, tomatoes, salt, and cooked beef to Dutch oven. Cover and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium low to maintain simmer, and cook 2 hours so everything gets to know each other in the pot. Remove from heat; uncover and let stand 1 hour. Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or up to overnight.

7. Reheat, and bring chili to a simmer over medium high, stirring often. Serve with cheese, sour cream, and scallions.

Jif And Giphy Have Created A Limited Edition Peanut Butter

Jif peanut butter unveiled a limited-edition jar labeled “Gif” as part of a clever partnership with GIF repository Giphy. The stunt, created by Publicis’ PSOne agency in New York, reignites a long-running debate about the correct pronunciation of GIF.

By now, most have made up their minds on the matter one way or the other, but Jif saw fit to create some semantic synesthesia by putting a G on a brand name we all know starts with a “juh” sound (unlike GIF, which is of course a hard-G sound like “glove” or “get over your lame argument about how the creator of GIFs pronounced it”).

The special Gif edition of otherwise normal Jif peanut butter—which also has the original label on the opposite side—went on sale via Amazon today at a price of $9.99. (Update: The limited edition appeared to have sold out by 12:40 p.m. ET.)

Mr. Peanut Passes Away At 104 Years Old

Today, Planters, one of America’s biggest snacking brands, revealed its Super Bowl pre-game ad showing just how far Mr. Peanut will go to save his friends Matt Walsh and Wesley Snipes from impending doom.

Whereas last year Mr. Peanut saved friends from snacking disappointment, this year he’s saving lives. The newly released pre-game ad shows Mr. Peanut, Matt Walsh and Wesley Snipes are on a nutty adventure in the NUTmobile when Mr. Peanut is forced to swerve, causing the vehicle to spin out of control. The trio jumps out of the NUTmobile, clinging to a tree branch, as the vehicle crashes down into a deep canyon below. They momentarily find safety until their combined weight begins to break the branch. In the ultimate act of friendship, Mr. Peanut lets go and sacrifices himself to save his friends from impending doom.

The ad will air before the big game kicks off during the pregame show. The brand’s official Super Bowl commercial will air in the third quarter of the game and broadcast Mr. Peanut’s funeral, so the world can mourn the loss of the beloved legume together.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we confirm Mr. Peanut has passed away at 104 years old,” said Samantha Hess, Planters Brand Manager at Kraft Heinz. “He will be remembered as the legume who always brought people together for nutty adventures and a good time. We encourage fans to tune in to Mr. Peanut’s funeral during the third quarter of the Super Bowl to celebrate his life.”

“Mr. Peanut was more than just a friend – he was a hero. His passing has shook me to my core,” said Matt Walsh. “I’ll do my best to honor his legacy and be there for my friends like he was always there for me even until our last wild ride together. I’ll pay my last respects during his funeral on Super Bowl Sunday. I encourage our entire nation to do the same.”

In addition to mourning Mr. Peanut during his funeral, fans have several ways to celebrate his life, including:

Fans who spot the NUTmobile leading up to and on game day will receive a commemorative pin celebrating Mr. Peanut’s life.

Mr. Peanut enthusiasts can show their family and friends how much the legume meant to them by sharing the black crying monocle and their favorite memory on social using #RIPeanut.

From January 24 – 27, fans can win commemorative packaging that takes inspiration from all the phases of Mr. Peanut and his classy style as it evolved through the years while supplies last.

Super Bowl LIV takes place this Sunday.
