Jif And Giphy Have Created A Limited Edition Peanut Butter

Jif peanut butter unveiled a limited-edition jar labeled “Gif” as part of a clever partnership with GIF repository Giphy. The stunt, created by Publicis’ PSOne agency in New York, reignites a long-running debate about the correct pronunciation of GIF.

By now, most have made up their minds on the matter one way or the other, but Jif saw fit to create some semantic synesthesia by putting a G on a brand name we all know starts with a “juh” sound (unlike GIF, which is of course a hard-G sound like “glove” or “get over your lame argument about how the creator of GIFs pronounced it”).

The special Gif edition of otherwise normal Jif peanut butter—which also has the original label on the opposite side—went on sale via Amazon today at a price of $9.99. (Update: The limited edition appeared to have sold out by 12:40 p.m. ET.)

KFC Brings Fried Chicken & Donuts To Its Restaurants Nationwide

After creating a consumer frenzy with a limited run test in 2019, Kentucky Fried Chicken announced today it is bringing its coveted, always hot, Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts to fans nationwide.

Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts brings two all-American classics together, a delicious pairing of KFC’s world-famous fried chicken, coupled with a warm, fresh-glazed donut. Beginning February 24, Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts will be available at participating restaurants in the U.S. for a limited time only.

Like the nationwide debut of Nashville Hot Chicken in 2016 and Chicken & Waffles in 2018, KFC is once again bringing the latest rising fried chicken trend to the masses with the introduction of Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts. This latest pairing has gained so much popularity, acclaimed chefs have started opening entire concepts around it. But people outside of major U.S. cities haven’t been privy to this delicious combination, until now.

To make its new Chicken & Donuts a debut to remember, KFC will open a pop-up shop called “The Colonel’s (Chicken &) Donuts Shop” for one day only on Saturday, February 22, in the donut capital of the world – Los Angeles.

The Colonel’s (Chicken &) Donuts Shop, located at 615 North La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, will open February 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., serving only Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts. As a special treat, the first 50 customers in line at the shop will receive a free Colonel’s Dozen, a mouthwatering mix of six KFC Extra Crispy chicken tenders and six glazed-to-order donuts. KFC and donut fans can experience this finger-lickin’ sweet and savory meal in a variety of options ranging from $5.49 to $7.99: Kentucky Fried Chicken & Donuts will be available nationwide through March 16, or while supplies last.

Mr. Peanut Passes Away At 104 Years Old

Today, Planters, one of America’s biggest snacking brands, revealed its Super Bowl pre-game ad showing just how far Mr. Peanut will go to save his friends Matt Walsh and Wesley Snipes from impending doom.

Whereas last year Mr. Peanut saved friends from snacking disappointment, this year he’s saving lives. The newly released pre-game ad shows Mr. Peanut, Matt Walsh and Wesley Snipes are on a nutty adventure in the NUTmobile when Mr. Peanut is forced to swerve, causing the vehicle to spin out of control. The trio jumps out of the NUTmobile, clinging to a tree branch, as the vehicle crashes down into a deep canyon below. They momentarily find safety until their combined weight begins to break the branch. In the ultimate act of friendship, Mr. Peanut lets go and sacrifices himself to save his friends from impending doom.

The ad will air before the big game kicks off during the pregame show. The brand’s official Super Bowl commercial will air in the third quarter of the game and broadcast Mr. Peanut’s funeral, so the world can mourn the loss of the beloved legume together.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we confirm Mr. Peanut has passed away at 104 years old,” said Samantha Hess, Planters Brand Manager at Kraft Heinz. “He will be remembered as the legume who always brought people together for nutty adventures and a good time. We encourage fans to tune in to Mr. Peanut’s funeral during the third quarter of the Super Bowl to celebrate his life.”

“Mr. Peanut was more than just a friend – he was a hero. His passing has shook me to my core,” said Matt Walsh. “I’ll do my best to honor his legacy and be there for my friends like he was always there for me even until our last wild ride together. I’ll pay my last respects during his funeral on Super Bowl Sunday. I encourage our entire nation to do the same.”

In addition to mourning Mr. Peanut during his funeral, fans have several ways to celebrate his life, including:

Fans who spot the NUTmobile leading up to and on game day will receive a commemorative pin celebrating Mr. Peanut’s life.

Mr. Peanut enthusiasts can show their family and friends how much the legume meant to them by sharing the black crying monocle and their favorite memory on social using #RIPeanut.

From January 24 – 27, fans can win commemorative packaging that takes inspiration from all the phases of Mr. Peanut and his classy style as it evolved through the years while supplies last.

Ben & Jerry’s Releasing ‘Netflix & Chill’d’ Flavor

Ben & Jerry’s has unveiled a new flavor of ice cream and it promises to be binge-worthy! The new flavor called ‘Netflix & Chilll’d,’ in honor of the streaming giant, was unveiled in New York on Wednesday night.

The treat combines peanut butter ice cream with a pretzel swirl and fudge brownie bits, making what the company calls a “chillaxing new creation” meant to satisfy both salty and sweet snack cravings. It will also come in a non-dairy version.

Netflix & Chilll’d’ ice cream will be available in pints around the globe, online and in Scoop Shops.

The Cheesecake Factory Is Releasing A Line of Ice Cream 

The Cheesecake Factory is officially releasing a line of cheesecake ice cream with seven different flavors.

The chain partnered with Wells Enterprises, Inc., a Le Mars, Iowa-based ice cream manufacturer, to release frozen pints. The ice creams, made with sour cream and their signature cream cheese blend, come in flavors modeled after their famous slices like birthday cake, chocolate, and cookies and cream. Each one will be packaged in a 14-oz. carton for a suggested retail price of $4.99. They will be available nationwide in the frozen aisle of grocery stores by March.

The full list of flavors includes:

Birthday Cake: premium cake flavored cheesecake ice cream with a signature cream cheese blend, sour cream, cake pieces, swirls of icing and candy sprinkles

Chocolate: premium chocolate cheesecake ice cream with a signature cream cheese blend, sour cream and rich chocolate fudge swirls

Cookies & Cream: premium cookies & cream cheesecake ice cream with a signature cream cheese blend, sour cream and chocolate cookie swirls

Oreo To Release A Tiramisu Flavor In 2020

Oreo announced they will sell limited-edition cookies in a double layer of creme featuring a Tiramisu flavor, as the latest addition to their ever-growing list of unique flavors. 

Tiramisu is a traditional Italian dessert layered with sponge cake (ladyfingers) that are soaked in coffee, flavored liqueur, and a sweet mascarpone cheese filling before dusted with cocoa powder.  The new flavored cookie will arrive on shelves this April.

McDonald’s is inviting families to celebrate Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with an out-of-this-world Happy Meal experience.
