Polaroid Lab Photo Maker

There’s an undeniable charm associated with printed photos that Polaroid Originals has used as the basis of its marketing tactics in the era of smartphones. The company built upon the nostalgia of the 80-year old Polaroid brand, and breathed new life into the classic instant analog cameras. And while the old-fashioned cameras are fun for capturing unique shots, they’re clunky and there are many instances where it’s impossible to carry one around. But the new Polaroid Lab desktop device lets you print Polaroid-style film directly from your smartphone.

The printer works with the iPhone 6S and up as well Android devices including current models of Samsung, Huawei, Google Pixel, and One Plus Android handsets. To print a picture, you first select a smartphone image in the Polaroid Originals app, place the phone screen-side down, and press the red button. Using mirrors and a three-lens developing system, the device will produce a grey Polaroid in just a few seconds. Polaroid Originals recommends waiting about 15 minutes though to let the film properly develop. Users can also blow-up a photo and create a collage of multiple Polaroids like in the video below.

“Unlimited cloud storage can actually be your memories’ worst enemy, causing your digital photos to skyrocket in numbers and end up falling into a void of oblivion,” said Polaroid BV CEO Oskar Smolokowski. “The idea behind the Polaroid Lab is that it turns your most previous smartphone photos into tangible Polaroid photographs — bringing them into the world as something you can hold in your hand and store on the fridge rather than in the cloud.”

The Polaroid Lab accepts existing I-Type and 600 series films, and users must be running iOS 11 or above and Android 7 or above on a compatible smartphone. Polaroid Originals has set the price for the Polaroid Lab at $130, and says the device will hit shelves by October 10.

The Scenario Studio Los Angeles Pop-Up

For the past 12 years, Scenario has been hired by celebrities and Fortune-500 companies to produce elaborate private photo shoots at their parties and events. The only guests who were able to enjoy a Scenario photo shoot had to be connected to a celebrity or large company, but now, for the first time ever, the public is invited to join the likes of Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend, Kanye West, the Kardashians, and over 100 other celebrities who have experienced Scenario on set.

The Scenario Studio in Los Angeles is a preview pop-up event lasting only for 2 months, featuring an inaugural collection of full-scale, interactive photography sets designed by world famous photographer and set designer, John Ganun.

Each photo set uses cutting edge LED lighting equipment and techniques to allow guests to use their very own smart phone cameras to take pictures that look as good as the photos the Scenario team would normally take of celebrities using professional cameras and strobe lighting.

Now, for the first time ever, the “most expensive photo booth in the world” is available to the general public for the price of a museum ticket. While tickets last, everyone can come and experience the star treatment, at The Scenario Studio.

Man, I Wish I Had A Time Machine – Vintage Pictures of Newsstands & Kids Reading Comics

7129577831_4bb7e5255b_b

When would you set the clock in your DeLorean, June of 1938 to pick up a fresh copy of Action Comics # 1, the first appearance of Superman?

mzl.zvssbxpp.320x480-75_large

Perhaps you’d set the timer to May 1939 and grab a stack of Detective 27’s, and rejoice with the rest of the world at the very first look at a certain caped crusader.

Maybe you’d travel back to a hot summer day in 1962, walk into the local newsstand and ask if they have any copies of Amazing Fantasy 15 and a Pepsi (it’s hot out…remember). The shopkeeper hands you a crisp copy with Spider-Man swooping through the city on a strand of web holding a green suited criminal in his other hand. You happily pay with 17 cents.

To better prepare you for your collector’s journey (yes, I have had this dream many times), here are some great vintage pictures of newsstands and kids reading classic comics.

Look carefully at the photos, you might spot some rarities that would go for astronomical prices today.
