Amazon Prime Air: Your Amazon Packages Could Soon Arrive By Flying Drones

image-gallery-01._V367570019_.jpg%22

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed tonight on 60 Minutes the company’s future delivery method: drones. You can watch the segment below (The drone portion kicks in at the 11:15 mark):

The goal of this new delivery system called Prime Air is to get packages into customers’ hands in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles. The airborne robots will be capable of delivering packages up to five pounds (86 percent of orders are apparently less than that) with a range of 10 miles.

As Amazon puts it, “Putting Prime Air into commercial use will take some number of years as we advance the technology and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations” and Bezos himself added in the TV segment that it won’t be before 2015 at the very earliest.

Hammacher Schlemmer Offering The Authentic 1966 Batmobile For Only $200,000

Screen Shot 2013-11-25 at 10.32.12 PM

So accurate it requires almost a year to complete, this is the officially licensed, roadworthy replica of the Batmobile featured in the iconic 1960s TV show and it will only set you back a mere $200,000.

Built on a custom Lincoln chassis, this crime-fighting cruiser comes standard with a 430-horsepower, 383 Blueprint Crate engine and a Monster TH350 automatic transmission. Though equipped with neither atomic batteries for power nor turbines for speed, a rear-facing propane tank creates the same afterburner effect as the original. The vehicle’s cockpit honors the gadgetry of the TV series with a blinking Batphone, switch-operated electric actuators that open the hood and trunk, and a rotating red beacon to alert citizens while in pursuit of fiendish criminals. Other intriguing, if less functional, accessories include a glowing detect-a-scope screen, a Batbeam ray that raises from a hood-mounted antenna, and empty rear parachute packs. The vehicle’s exterior bears all the hallmarks of its namesake, from bubble-canopy windshields to chrome “rocket” tubes behind the rear windshield. Though the original Batmobile lacked rearview mirrors, this street-legal model comes with clamp-on side mirrors as well as a rear video camera.

To order The Authentic 1966 Batmobile call 1-800-227-3528 and a Hammacher Schlemmer Product Specialists will gladly answer all questions and provide additional information.

Apple Offers iPhone 5s In-Store Pickup, Availability Check

Apple is now allowing customers to check the availability of its iPhone 5s and arrange for in-store pickup through its online store. Currently, all 5s models on all carriers are showing an October shipping date. Although it differs by store, a search of numerous zip codes shows very few models are available for in-store pickup at this time, however, some iPhone 5s units—particularly in Space Gray—are available for certain carriers. By comparison, the iPhone 5c is still shipping within 24 hours, and many models appear to be available for in-store pickup.

Introducing PayPal Beacon: Shopping Made Seamless

SHOT_08_Black_FINAL

Merchants now have the ability to plug in PayPal Beacon to provide their customers with a completely new shopping experience. The first device of its kind, PayPal Beacon allows merchants to connect directly to their customers PayPal app for automatic check-in.

Faster than swiping a credit card or tapping a mobile phone at the point of sale, PayPal Beacon will make the payment experience get out of the way. It will leverage Bluetooth Low Energy; a breakthrough technology that enables connected devices to communicate with each other seamlessly, while keeping the energy consumption at a very low level. By using BLE, transactions can take place without having to open up an app, without GPS being turned on, and even without a phone signal. When its time to pay, customers don’t have to lift a finger to take advantage of offers or complete the payment — its all done securely with no cash, no card and no signature required.

SHOT_03_FINALB

Consumers will have full control of stores they will want to check in to, those they will want to get prompted to confirm payment for, and stores they will want to enable a complete hands-free experience for. We value our customers’ privacy, so PayPal Beacon won’t constantly track a user’s location. If a consumer enters a store and declines to check in, or just ignores the prompt entirely, no information is transmitted to PayPal or the merchant.

PayPal Beacon devices will be available for merchants to purchase early next year. At that time, consumers will be able to download or update a new version of the PayPal app to take advantage of Beacon-enabled shopping experiences.

Paying With Your Phone Has Never Been So Easy With The New PayPal App

05bits-paypal-tmagArticle

Yesterday, PayPal launched their completely reimagined PayPal app on iPhone and Android, making it easier for customers to pay when they’re in-store and send money to friends.

Thousands of restaurants, cafes, clothing stores and other retail locations now allow shoppers to pay just using their mobile phones.

The PayPal app has a new tab called ‘Shop’, which you can use to find shops or restaurants nearby that accept PayPal payments. You can then ‘check in’ and open a tab with just a swipe. You can change how you want to pay right on the “check in” screen, meaning you’ve really got access to your entire wallet in the app. After you’ve paid, you’ll see a confirmation alert and our usual PayPal email receipt.

Download the new app on your iPhone or Android smartphone and check it out.
