After initially passing 15 years ago, LeBron James is finally ready to take the Space Jam mantle from Michael Jordan in Space Jam: A New Legacy (out July 16 in theaters and on HBO Max), which graces the new cover of Entertainment Weekly. “It’s something Mike created and is his,” James says of the beloved franchise. “I held that with a lot of responsibility.” As does EW in premiering this highly-anticipated first look.
Talking of knee injuries, a torn meniscus is the most common one.More than 850,000 surgeries are performed every year in U.S. since the cartilage does not heal properly. It can impact the agility of a player. In fact, the leg muscles can become instable which can affect your performance. Basketball is a sport which requires heavy landing, twists and turns which can be compromised due to knee pain and inflammation. Therefore, it is best to adopt possible techniques to prevent the injury.
It usually occurs when the protective cartilage in the knee tears making it difficult to move, squat or bend over, according to an article by Healthline. One good way to avoid the injury is to strengthen your muscles with external support. Look for adjustable basketball knee brace which will allow full range of motion and are lightweight enough for everyday usage, according to experts at Aidfull. Look at what else can help reduce the severity and occurrence of this condition.
1. Consider Warm Ups
About 5-10 minutes of lightweight exercise before a match can reduce the chances of injuries. Make sure to go for cycling, dynamic stretching or jogging. It can prevent muscle pulls, fatigue and soreness. Try to keep your motion under control with steady and smooth movements. Further, do wear high-quality waterproof knee braces for basketball once you start playing the game for ultimate protection.
2. Get Enough Rest
To be able to minimize the risk of new injuries during training, one needs to be mindful not to get low quality sleep at night or put up with depressed mood, according to an article by Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport. Therefore, consider getting at least 7-8 hours of undisturbed ‘shut eye’ every day. This can also lower the sensitivity to musculoskeletal injuries and tears.
3. Invest in Sports Shoes
The right pair of shoes which is snug and well-tailored will often prevent injuries by offering protection against impacts.Pick the one which cushions the foot, helps you feel comfortable and supports with proper alignment, according to an article by Better Health Channel. In fact, the right footwear along with the best basketball knee braces might also prevent injuries like a meniscus tear.
4. Muscle Strengthening Exercises
Clams, standing heel raises, leg extensions, hamstring curls, straight leg raise and mini squats are great for strengthening the core leg muscles. Make sure you have doctor’s approval to perform them at home. These activities can lower the chances of serious injuries. Make sure to wear knee braces for basketball to keep the knees and ankles protected.
5. Multiple Sports
Instead of participating in one sport all year round, young athletes can consider cross training to avoid using the same muscles over and over again, according to an article by Premier Health. This will prevent overuse of a specific muscle while strengthening the surrounding joints and ligaments. In fact, this can also help lower the chances of injury in your back, knees and hips.
Meniscus tear is an accident and cannot be fully prevented. However, putting these tips into action along with support from shoulder & ankle brace for basketball can be quite beneficial in the long run.
Jamel Herring is gearing up for the biggest fight of his career thus far. Later this month, the American will trade blows with Belfast’s Carl Frampton in London and Herring’s WBO super featherweight title will be on the line, something the challenger has his sights firmly locked on as he hopes to become the first boxer from the island of Ireland to hold a world title at three different weight classes.
The Northern Irishman is the heavy favourite in the latest Frampton odds, but Herring can’t be ruled out that easily. So, let’s take a look at the WBO champion’s last five bouts to get a better sense of what ‘The Jackal’ is going to be up against come fight night on February 27th.
Jonathan Oquendo – Win via DQ
Herring went toe-to-toe with Jonathan Oquendo at the MGM Grand Conference Centre in Las Vegas last summer. It wasn’t the prettiest of fights. Oquendo led with his head from the off, making life difficult for Herring. However, the former US marine looked to have gained control when an uppercut sent his challenger to the canvas, but Oquendo persevered. An intentional headbutt in the fifth round left Herring badly cut close to his eye, but the fight continued to the eighth when the doctor ordered the bout to stop. It was deemed that the fight had to stop due to the earlier headbutt, so Herring was given the victory via disqualification for Oquendo.
Lamont Roach Jr – Win via decision (unanimous)
A bout with Lamont Roach Jr at Chukchansi Park in California was Herring’s first defense of his WBO super featherweight title. The Veterans Day weekend fight almost didn’t go to plan for Herring as Roach had him rocked in the 11th round. Luckily for the 35-year-old, however, his challenger couldn’t finish the job and he retained his title on the scorecards (117-111, 117-111, 115-113). “This is for you all. I couldn’t come lose it on our weekend,” Herring told the almost 7,500-strong crowd afterwards.
Masayuki Ito – Win via decision (unanimous)
Whilst Herring’s first successful defense of his title was on Veterans Day weekend, he sensationally stripped Masayku Ito of the WBO belt six months prior on Memorial Day weekend. The American was fancied by few to take Ito’s title in the Osceola Heritage Park, Florida-based bout. However, he boxed smart, keeping the Japanese fighter at arm’s length for much of the fight and upset the odds on the scorecards, winning 116-112, 118-110 and 118-110.
Adeilson Dos Santos – Win via decision (unanimous)
Herring went toe-to-toe with Brazilian Adeilson Dos Santos at the American Bank Center in Texas in December 2018. Despite coming out of the blocks fast, knocking his opponent to the canvas twice inside the first two rounds, Herring was unable to force a stoppage in the eight-round encounter, and the bout once again went to the scorecards, where the American was marked the 80-70 victor on all three cards.
John Vincent Moralde – Win via decision (unanimous)
In September 2018, Herring beat John Vincent Moralde at the Save Mart Arena, California to win the vacant IBF-USBA junior lightweight title. The American was once again unable to stop the Filipino inside the 10 rounds, so in typical Herring fashion, it went to the scorecards, where he won 100-90 across all three cards.
There’s been little to get excited about in the red half of north London thus far this season. Arsenal has left much to be desired in the way of results, and there’s not much left to play for at the Emirates other than attempting to restore some pride before the season is out.
Talk of relegation was on the cards earlier in the campaign, and as the Gunners slumped to eight defeats in their first 14 league games it was reported that the club’s hierarchy even started to implement clauses in case they did face the dreaded drop to the Championship.
However, the tide seemed to turn when Mikel Arteta’s men stunned Chelsea on Boxing Day and went on an impressive streak of seven league games without defeat.
That unbeaten run provided a bit of hope for the Gunners as they clawed their way back into the top half of the table and got within just six of the top four. But, two successive defeats against Wolves and Aston Villa have resulted in Arsenal falling back into the bottom half and they are now nine points off fourth and even eight points behind the Europa League spots.
That aside, there will also be no domestic trophies for Arteta’s side this season either. The defense of their FA Cup was ended in just the fourth round by Southampton, whilst they were thrashed 4-1 by Manchester City in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
It certainly makes for grim reading, and the demise of Arsenal has been as clear as day this season. However, there is hope that it won’t all be doom and gloom. After all, they still have the Europa League to play for.
In the past, the members of the so-called ‘Big Six’ have sneered at Europe’s secondary competition, but it now holds a much bigger prize for the winner – a sought-after place in the Champions League.
Arsenal is behind their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the outright Europa League online betting at Betfair. However, winning the competition is going to be no easy task.
Benfica awaits the Gunners in the last 32 and progressing to the Round of 16 ahead of the Portuguese side is a real possibility. Despite being one of Europe’s biggest spenders last summer, As Águias have also had their own struggles. They are currently fourth in the Primeira Liga, 11 points behind league leaders Sporting Lisbon, whilst they qualified to the Round of 32 behind Rangers in Group D.
It is also worth noting that Arsenal’s form in the Europa League is in stark comparison to their domestic form. Arteta’s side won all six of their games to progress from Group B. However, with all due respect, Molde, Rapid Vienna and Dundalk hardly posed any real threats.
Looking at the Gunners and Benfica’s current form, it’s hard to tell who is going to win. But Arsenal will be confident given that Benfica’s ‘home’ tie has been switched to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, stripping As Águias of any home comforts, before hosting the Portuguese side in London.
Given the standard of many of the sides remaining in the competition, it’s hard to picture Arsenal lifting the Europa League trophy in May. However, it would certainly save their season.
After all, Champions League football is the goal for all the ‘Big Six’, and the Gunners booking a place amongst Europe’s elite for the first time since they reached the Round of 16 in 2017 would provide a major boost for the club heading into next season.

An extremely rare 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie baseball card became the highest-priced sports card ever, selling for $5.2 million, PWCC Marketplace announced.
The Topps card, rated PSA 9 based on the grading system for cards, blew by the previous record of $3.94 million, set in August for a signed Mike Trout 2009 rookie card – of which just one was created.
As for the Mantle card, there may be as few as three left in good condition.
Rob Gough, an actor and entrepreneur, purchased the card. Gough is the owner of several companies including DOPE CBD. He’s acted in Billionaire Boys Club, The Forgiven and Mom and Dad.
“The 1952 Topps Mantle is the holy grail of sports cards,” Gough said. “I’ve dreamt of owning a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle since I was a kid collecting cards. It’s the Mona Lisa of sports cards and I’ve been searching for this high graded example talking to industry experts, dealers, auction houses, friends and I’m ecstatic that I’m now the proud owner of this iconic card.”
“Based on our research, this is the nicest looking 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 9 in existence,” Jesse Craig, director of business development at PWCC Marketplace, said in a press release.
The sky-high value of the Mantle card is due in part to the fact that in addition to being the Yankee legend’s rookie card, it’s from Topps’ first annual set – many of which were tossed into the Hudson River eight years later after they didn’t sell.

The main sports competitions in the US are still on recess, but punters are anxiously waiting for them to resume. There is tremendous interest for these games not only from American punters, but also the international community. Since the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act was passed, the legal online gambling market in the United States was rendered virtually irrelevant. The interest for sports betting has remained the same though, with players simply moving on to offshore platforms.
Growing interest for online sports betting
In recent years, significant progress was made by online casinos as they applied and were granted licenses in some states. At the time of writing, the online sports betting industry is still trailing, but things are moving in the right direction. NBA, NHL, NFL and MLB matches are watched by millions of Americans and many of them would like to turn the heat up a notch with a friendly bet. Some punters are willing to bend the rules and play at offshore bookmakers, but most are happy to wait for a license industry.
The US is losing significant resources simply because its citizens choose to gamble elsewhere in the absence of a legal framework. This has prompted legislators to take action and propose bills that would legalize sports betting in their states. They have the support of a significant percentage of their voters, which only boosts their confidence and motivation. The number of states where online gambling is legal or in the process of being legalized grows by the year.
New Jersey, Delaware and Nevada used to be the only places where Americans could legally play online casino games. Their example was followed by other states and legal sports betting is just around the corner. Recent studies suggest that the interest among US players for sports betting is growing and people bet larger amounts every year. Major events such as the Super Bowl attract the largest crowds and in the absence of a legal betting environment, players are willing to take a chance with unlicensed bookies.
The perks of legalized sports betting
Offshore bookmakers and you can visit this website to see, are perfectly happy with providing US players with the opportunity to bet on sports. Many found creative ways around the prohibitive laws, by allowing players to deposit and cash out winnings using alternative payment methods. This helps punters bet on sports online, but fails to address those key security requirements. They have no guarantees that the online bookmaker will pay winnings on time and in full or that it will respect the rules.
Legalizing sports betting will protect punters from unfair practices, while also keeping the most vulnerable players safe. Ultimately, legal sports betting will bring more money to state coffers, instead of allowing funds to boost the accounts of offshore platforms. Some states continue to oppose any form of legalized sports betting, but they now represent a minority. Across the USA, online sports betting is gaining momentum and more states are expected to legalize this activity in 2020.
