Gallery 1988 X WWE

Two years in the making, the official collaborative art show between Gallery1988 and WWE will open. Utilizing both rooms of the gallery, one side will house a large group show with almost 100 artists creating pieces inspired by the superstars of today and yesterday, while the other will be the newest solo show (of paintings and prints) from black velvet artist Bruce White. At one time thought to be impossible, this art show will be epic.

All in conjunction with Survivor Series, taking place Sunday at Staples Center, the artwork will first be available for purchase at the gallery and then online November 17 at gallery1988.com.

This rare exhibit will run through Saturday, December 1. Gallery1988 is located at 7308 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles.

Springfield of Dreams: The Legend of Homer Simpson

Fox Sports announced that, in advance of the network’s 20th year broadcasting the World Series, a comedic “Simpsonized” documentary, Springfield of Dreams: The Legend of Homer Simpson, will air celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the airing of The Simpsons episode “Homer at Bat.” The documentary will air adjacent to regional NFL broadcasts on Sunday, Oct. 22 on FOX. The World Series presented by YouTube TV begins Tuesday, October 24 on FOX.

The one-hour special celebrates the legendary episode “Homer at the Bat,” in addition to Homer Simpson’s “induction” into The National Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this year. A satire of Ken Burns’ epic documentary, “Baseball,” the special features interviews from eight Major League Baseball players appearing in the original episode, along with baseball historians, sportscasters, and iconic personalities, such as FOX Sports’ Joe Buck, sports announcer Bob Costas, author George Will, Dr. Oz, fashion consultant and television personality Tim Gunn and New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio. Current Yankee slugger and Major League Baseball AL MVP candidate Aaron Judge appears in the special.

The feature also contains six minutes of never-before-seen original animation from The Simpsons, including character “interviews” from Homer, Moe, Chief Wiggum and Apu, voiced by Dan Castellaneta and Hank Azaria. Directed by Academy Award nominee Morgan Spurlock, the documentary is produced by FOX Sports Originals.

Homer Simpson Inducted Into Baseball Hall of Fame

Homer Simpson was “inducted” into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York Saturday during a ceremony that celebrated the 25th anniversary of the classic The Simpsons episode “Homer at the Bat.”

The episode, which aired in February 1992, featured guest appearances by MLB all-stars like Ozzie Smith, Ken Griffey Jr., Wade Boggs, Don Mattingly and Jose Canseco; Now Hall of Famers in their own right, Boggs and Smith were on hand to welcome Simpson in the Hall.

In a prepared statement, Simpson said, “My record for eating hot dogs will never be broken. I’ve been a fan for 40 years, which is how long some games take. And I can’t wait for the ceremony in Canton, Ohio.” (Canton is the home of the Football Hall of Fame.)

Simpsons executive producer Al Jean previously spoke to the Baseball Hall of Fame about “Homer at the Bat,” which finished Number 15 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 150 Best Simpsons Episodes.

“It’s definitely one you hear about a lot,” Jean said. “There’s nostalgia because a lot of people were kids when it first aired. Looking at it again, as I did recently, it’s a real glimpse of ’90s era baseball. Baseball has changed since then – it’s a different kind of game.”
