Disney+ announced that “Good Morning America” and ABC News co-anchor Robin Roberts will host and executive produce “Turning the Tables With Robin Roberts,” a four-episode series featuring intimate round table conversations with female celebrities from all walks of life. LeBron James will serve as an executive producer on the series with his media conglomerate, The SpringHill Company. In addition to Roberts and James, the assembled team of executive producers is comprised of women, BIPOC and members of the LGBTQ+ community. “Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts” will premiere Friday, July 30, on Disney+.
In each episode, Roberts sits down with three famous women who share experiences that are both personal and moving. As the show’s title suggests, the guests often “turn the tables” and interview Roberts and each other in heartfelt and often humorous conversations that showcase authenticity and vulnerability. Guests include Debbie Allen, Sofia Carson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jenna Dewan, Sheila E., Melissa Etheridge, Mickey Guyton, Betsey Johnson, Billie Jean King, Tig Notaro, Raven-Symoné and Josie Totah.
“This project is very personal to me, and I’m proud to bring it to Disney+,” said Roberts. “The guests we’ve assembled are an amazing group of women who have all achieved great success in their various careers. Although they represent different age groups and backgrounds, they were all willing to open up and share their unique stories with honesty and humor. I welcome viewers to come along with me on this journey as we learn about the importance of expressing vulnerability and connecting with others.”
These conversations delve deeper and are more candid than traditional interviews. In one episode, Roberts and her guests explore their identity, both personally and professionally, and the insecurities they’ve faced in their careers. Other segments feature topics such as overcoming both health and emotional issues and experiences that have led them toward the freedom to live their own truth.
During Roberts’ tenure as co-anchor of “Good Morning America,” the broadcast has won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Program and the 2017 People’s Choice Award for Favorite Daytime TV Hosting Team. She has been honored with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism, was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame, as well as the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and was named one of Glamour’s Women of the Year. Roberts founded her own production company, Rock’n Robin Productions, which creates original broadcast and digital programming for ABC and other networks, ranging from informational shows and documentaries to live special events.

After securing an official series order from HBO Max two months ago, Greg Berlanti’s newest DC series Green Lantern has finally found its first hero in the form of American Horror Story alum Finn Wittrock.
Wittrock has successfully landed the leading role of Guy Gardner, one of the many Green Lanterns that will be featured in the upcoming superhero series. Wittrock’s character is being described as a hulking mass of masculinity and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism. And yet, Guy is somehow likable. This marks the official live-action debut of Guy Gardner, who was created by John Broome and Gil Kane in 1968.
The Green Lantern series will depict the adventures of a multitude of Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz, and Alan Scott — Earth’s first Green Lantern, who, true to the comics, is a gay man — and many more. The series will also include fan favorites such as Sinestro and Kilowog, and will also introduce new heroes to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps.
The show’s official synopsis reads: “Green Lantern reinvents the classic DC property through a story spanning decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott, and 1984, with cocky alpha male Guy Gardner and half-alien Bree Jarta. They’ll be joined by a multitude of other Lanterns — from comic book favorites to never-before-seen heroes.”
Based on the character created by Alan Scott and Martin Nodell, the 10-episode series will be written and executive produced by Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim (Arrow) with Grahame-Smith also set as the showrunner. Executive producers are Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, David Madden, David Katzenberg, Elizabeth Hunter and Sara Saedi.
Years after “The Great Crumble” changed everything, a hybrid deer-boy forms an unlikely bond with a wandering loner. Together, they embark on an extraordinary adventure through the lush, dangerous world left behind, searching for the meaning of home. Based on the DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth premieres globally on June 4, only on Netflix.
Executive Producer, Writer , Director & Co-Showrunner Jim Mickle on Sweet Tooth’s unique world: “ We wanted to make a show that offers escape and adventure, where nature is reclaiming the world and in many ways it feels like a fairytale. Sweet Tooth is a new kind of dystopian story, it’s very lush and hopeful. We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story — we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means, and why it’s important to keep faith in humanity.”
Sweet Tooth will feature Christian Convery (Gus), Nonso Anozie (Tommy Jepperd), Adeel Akhtar (Dr. Aditya Singh), Aliza Vellani (Rani Singh), Stefania LaVie Owen (Bear), Dania Ramirez (Aimee Eden), Neil Sandilands (General Abbot), with Will Forte (Father) and James Brolin (Narrator)
Executive Producer, Writer & Co-showrunner Beth Schwartz on bringing the 2009 comic book to screen: “Sweet Tooth the series has been in the making since 2016, and the comics existed even well before that, but I think everyone is going to relate to the show and this story even more than we even thought when we first started working on it. When you watch Sweet Tooth, you feel hopeful about the future.”
Go behind the scenes of Marvel Studios’ hit series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” with a brand-new, documentary-style special “Assembled: The Making of ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”
Streaming exclusively on Disney+ beginning tomorrow, the second episode of this groundbreaking series of documentary-style specials follows Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and members of the cast and crew as they take fans inside the making of the hard-hitting series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” Viewers will learn how the roots of these two characters reach as far back as “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and the momentum has steadily built over their subsequent films. The creative minds behind the series leaned into these characters’ rich storylines along with the dynamic chemistry between Mackie and Stan as a launch pad for the series to explore the post-blip world while drawing inspiration from and coming to terms with the legacy of Captain America. The cast and crew will talk about the special alchemy they’ve developed for the series by blending genres from spy thrillers to buddy cop vehicles. The episode also showcases how the team filmed the high-flying, globe-trotting action, brought back fan favorites such as Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter and Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo, and introduced new characters into the mix.
