2020 Trends In Social Media And Digital Marketing

Watching out for the latest trends in social media is always exciting. And if you are a marketer, social media channels have become the forefront of customer engagement. What is most notable about social channels is how dynamic it is. New stuff happens all the time, and if you want to take advantage of these trends to promote your business, you need to keep track of these changes.

This coming 2020, there are many predictions about the future of social media. Here is our take on what you can expect so that you can plan your marketing strategies for the coming year.

Influencer marketing remains strong

In 2020, marketers will continue to focus on influencer marketing. Since consumers are already tired of conventional advertisements that appear on their social media feeds, using influencers can help regain the trust of consumers. There is no doubt that social media has been quite effective in the success of small businesses and start-ups. Even other online-based businesses like NetBet UK Casino sites are already benefitting from influencer marketing. As such, it is essential to enlist the help of celebrities, experts, and other famous personalities.

Social media sites providing ecommerce solutions

Facebook has already introduced Marketplace, where individuals can directly transact and purchase goods using social media. Instagram is no different. With a single swipe or click, you can already purchase products and pay using your credit card. If you want to increase your sales in the coming year, you may want to look into the possibility of using social media to augment your ecommerce business.

It is likely that in 2020, more brands and online-based businesses will take advantage of this trend as consumers look for more convenient ways to shop online.

Marketers will embrace social media stories

When SnapChat pioneered posting stories, all social media channels followed suit. What is excellent about this feature is how it gives the viewers authentic insight into what goes on behind the scenes. Since the content disappears after some time, there is a sense of urgency that marketers can use to their advantage. For example, stories can be used to advertise flash deals, and sales only loyal followers will have the chance to take advantage of.

Augmented reality will take social media into the next level

AR technology is now gaining popularity for applications in ecommerce. For example, a furniture store can use an AR app, allowing customers to view how a particular piece of furniture would look in their homes. Indeed the potential of AR technology, when used in marketing, is endless. Although at this time, you see very few brands taking full advantage of AR, this will change as the technology becomes more affordable and readily available in the coming years.

Using chatbots to improve user experience

The latest marketing trend in chatbots is the capability to search for answers instead of using canned responses to customer queries. As this technology becomes more sophisticated, customers become more satisfied with their overall experience when visiting an ecommerce site or business social media account.

Gary Larson’s The Far Side Is Now Online!

If social sharing had been measured during the fifteen year run of The Far Side, Gary Larson’s creation would rank as the “most shared” of all time. From science labs to dorm rooms, mail rooms to executive suites, The Far Side worked its way into our lives and invited us into a whole new world: brilliant, bold, and bizarre. The iconic comic panel has never been authorized to be available online. Until now., the only official website, can be viewed HERE.

To the delight of legions of fans, celebrates Larson’s twisted, irreverent genius as never before. The digital destination site debuts today, December 17, 2019.

An unparalleled comic masterpiece, The Far Side revolutionized conventional considerations of humor in general, and of comics in particular. Its impact and influence cannot be overestimated; the panel has been revered by fans from all walks of life and every corner of the world. At the time of Larson’s retirement from daily syndication, The Far Side appeared in nearly two thousand newspapers; over the years, more than forty million books and seventy-seven million calendars have been sold, and it has been translated into more than seventeen languages.

The Far Side is without peer — no need for a reboot, remake, or sequel — just a new way to discover and enjoy. Highlights of the new site will include:

-The Daily Dose, an ever-changing, random selection of cartoons from The Far Side
-A weekly themed comic collection
-Sketches and doodles from Larson’s sketchbooks
-Periodic unveiling of new work by Larson

Passionate throngs of established fans will be thrilled, but so will an entirely new generation of soon-to-be devotees. The Far Side has been a cross-generational and cross-demographic favorite since its origin, and will fuel its appeal to an even broader enthusiastic audience.

Finding extra sources of income via the internet has never been easier. In this article we will share the top 5 ways that individuals can earn extra money online.

Blogging / Vlogging

Blogging is creating and managing a website based on your chosen niche. You can choose a niche or topic that allows you to share your expertise and thoughts to your readers. To start a blog, you need to choose a name for your website. It is best to go for something unique that readers will remember. Once you have chosen the name of the blog, you should check to see if the domain name is still available. You can play with words or add numbers to your chosen name in case it is no longer available. Then, you should find a hosting site to host your domain. It’s more professional to have your own hosted site rather than using free platforms. Once you have set up the blog, you should start publishing your content. It is best practice to publish 2 or 3 times a week.

Now, what is vlogging? Vlogging or video blogging is similar to blogging but with the utilization of video. Many prefer to watch videos rather than read lengthy articles and that’s why these vloggers provide their content through this medium. Vloggers post about a variety of subjects such as dating tips, DIY, travel or other random content. Mostly, vloggers host their videos in YouTube where they can gain subscribers.

Content Writing

Another popular way to earn money online is by writing articles, press releases, and other requirements by clients. If you love writing, then this is easy for you. You just need Microsoft office software loaded to your computer and then you’re good to go. You do not need your own website since most clients just require the articles to be submitted via email. It’s best to sign up on online job sites to find clients that require article writing.

Web Development

Since it’s very popular to have a website especially for business owners, they look for experts who can set up their website professionally. You can apply as a web developer to set-up and manage their website including front-end and back-end functionalities. Most common clients are those who have e-commerce businesses. You will need to know their requirements and work from there. This can be a stable job if you find pool of clients as many will need you to maintain their site.

Another job opportunity is through SEO or search engine optimization. Most website owners look for a SEO manager to manage their keyword rankings in different search engines like Google. SEO managers also manage the on-page structure of the site including keyword velocity, placement and overall performance of the website.

Ads & Affiliate Marketing

Lastly, when you have your own website or blog, you can start to promote products or become an affiliate. You can publish ads on your site and when visitors on your site click the ad or sign up, you will then earn a commission.

These are some of the best ways to earn extra money online. If you are looking to earn more money this year you can do a lot more lucrative things online rather than perusing social media sites.

Facebook Reactions

Facebook’s redesigned Like button is finally here! After months of testing, the social network is finally rolling out reactions to everyone, Facebook announced Wednesday. The update, which includes four new reactions — Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry — will be available to all users in the next couple of days.

To access the new options, simply hold down the Like button on the app (or hover over it with your mouse, if you’re on desktop) to view all the reactions and tap on the one you want to add to a post. As with likes, you’ll be able to see how many people have reacted to a particular post or photo.

Facebook Product Manager Sammi Krug shared that his team spent months conducting research and surveying users to hone in on what, exactly, was missing from the Like button. (While Facebook users have been begging for a “dislike,” option pretty much since the beginning of the Like, Mark Zuckerberg has spoken at length about why he thinks there should be more nuanced reactions than “dislike.”)

The biggest consideration through it all though was finding sentiments so universal that they would be easily translate across all the countries where people use Facebook (which is just about everywhere.) That’s also why the company chose to roll the feature out first to countries like Spain, Portugal, Chile, Japan and Colombia before bringing them to the rest of the world.

Up All Night To Get Lucky? UK Casino Tops the Charts

The launch in the UK of the new online casino,, leans heavily on the Daft Punk track of the same name featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. The hook line Up all night to get lucky is inevitably playing a prominent part in the appeals that the new venture is pushing out to prospective players. It made us wonder, what other tracks might represent the perfect pre-packaged, chart-topping commercial accompaniment?

Daft Punk’s adult-oriented lyrics are right on the money when it comes to generating the sense of cheeky and carefree, grown up fun that Getlucky’s producers are seeking to generate:

She’s up all night to the sun

I’m up all night to get some

She’s up all night for good fun

I’m up all night to get lucky

It’s a pairing that sets the bar quite high. So what did we come up with? This isn’t a scientific list, and you’re welcome to add your own, just as you’re welcome to shoot ours down in flames. Here’s what we came up with:

There is something about the way that – even post Steve Jobs – Apple go about their business that we couldn’t resist. On that basis, Tears for Fears’ Everybody wants to Rule the World struck us as being pretty much spot on when it came to Apple. They really do seem to want to rule the world, and they probably soon will.

Maybe not quite so subversively there was a vote for the Backstreet Boys as the new face of the sandwich chain Subway. I Want it that Way is pretty much as close to the Subway mantra as you could hope to come up with. Obviously it would be better if the band changed their name to the Highstreet Boys, but, hey, you can’t have everything. Tempting as it was, we ruled out the idea of including the collective French Mushroom industry’s case for inclusion as the natural partner for Queen’s classic anthem We are the Champignons. This isn’t that kind of list.

There was a vote that we did allow for the breakdown services – AA, RAC, National Breakdown etc. – to be represented by Salt N Pepa’s Push It. We can be pretty cruel sometimes.

And we liked the idea that Nike might make something of Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run, although the Boss himself might not think much of that idea.
We liked the idea that Donald Trump could get tuneful with Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars with Billionaire, although in fairness that bird has already flown. And anyway, we’ve already done ruling the world once…

Last but not least our favorite was Friends Reunited – remember them? And the song to sum it up perfectly? There was only one choice – Yesterday – they didn’t get so lucky!
