Watch A Look at Season 1 of AMC’s Dispatches From Elsewhere

AMC released a “Look at the Series” video from Jason Segel’s upcoming original anthology series Dispatches from Elsewhere, created by and starring Segel. The video features behind-the-scenes interviews with Segel (“Peter”/creator, writer, executive producer), Academy and Emmy Award-winner Sally Field (“Janice”), multi-GRAMMY Award-winner André Benjamin (“Fredwynn”) and rising star Eve Lindley (“Simone”).

The ten-hour series is centered around four ordinary people who feel there’s something missing in their lives, but they can’t quite put their finger on what it is. This diverse foursome is brought together by chance – or perhaps it’s by design – when they stumble onto a puzzle hiding just behind the veil of everyday life. As they begin to accept the mysterious ‘Dispatches from Elsewhere’ challenges, they come to find that the mystery winds deeper than they imagined, and their eyes are opened to a world of possibility and magic. Dispatches From Elsewhere will debut with a two-night premiere event on Sunday, March 1 and Monday, March 2 on AMC.

NOS4A2 Renewed For Season 2 At AMC

AMC’s NOS4A2 has been renewed for a 10-episode second season ahead of its season one finale.

The Season 2 news was revealed by the supernatural horror series’ stars Zachary Quinto and Ashley Cummings and executive producers Joe Hill and Jami O’Brien during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.

Based on Hill’s best-selling novel of the same name, NOS4A2 centers on Vic McQueen (Cummings), a gifted young woman who discovers she has a supernatural ability to find lost things. This ability puts her on a collision course with Charlie Manx (Quinto), a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – an icy, twisted Christmas village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

The series also stars Jahkara Smith, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Virginia Kull and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

NOS4A2’s Season 1 finale airs Sunday, July 28 at 10/9c on AMC. The second season will go into production this fall and debut on AMC in 2020.

“This otherworldy series makes remarkable work of Joe Hill’s spine-tingling novel, deftly helmed by Jami O’Brien and with captivating performances by Zachary Quinto and Ashley Cummings and the rest of the talented cast,” said David Madden, president of programming for AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. NOS4A2 has kept viewers on the edge of their seats since its debut and we are ready to jump right back in to this story for season two.”

“I am so excited for the opportunity to bring the rest of Joe Hill’s amazing novel to television. Joe’s imagination is unparalleled,” O’Brien added. “I love the characters and the world, and our colleagues at AMC have been wonderful partners. I’m grateful to be playing in the NOS4A2 sandbox.”

With ‘NOS4A2,’ Joe Hill Finally Sinks His Teeth Into TV

The AMC horror series NOS4A2 is one of several adaptations the best-selling horror author Joe Hill has in the works, after multiple stalled attempts.

In this New York Times interview the author discusses vampirism; feminism; supernaturalism; sadism; his father, the best-selling novelist Stephen King; and his own best-selling novel NOS4A2.

NOS4A2 is both the first of Hill’s stories to make it to the small screen and one of several TV projects he now has in the works, a dramatic reversal of fortune after multiple stalled attempts. Misfires included a reboot of George A. Romero’s horror series “Tales From the Darkside,” which never made it past the pilot stage after Hill wrote several scripts, and two adaptations of “Locke & Key,” a comic Hill did with the artist Gabriel Rodríguez. Separate pilots were produced for each — first for Fox, then for Hulu — but both were dropped.

Then suddenly, abundance: In addition to “NOS4A2,” “Locke & Key” was finally picked up for a Netflix series, which is expected to debut by early next year. A Netflix film based on “In the Tall Grass,” a short story Hill wrote with his father, is expected this fall.

And in a development that completes a personal circle for Hill, the streaming service Shudder is in postproduction on an adaptation of his 2014 short story “By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain” for its anthology series “Creepshow,” a reboot of the 1982 movie written by King — which also starred Hill as a little boy.

Watch The NOS4A2 Season Premiere Teaser: Vic McQueen vs. Charlie Manx

A new teaser for AMC‘s upcoming supernatural series adaptation NOS4A2 has been released, giving us a tease of the incoming face-off between Vic McQueen and Charlie Manx.

NOS4A2, based on Joe Hill’s bestselling novel of the same name, tells the story of Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto), a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – an icy, twisted Christmas village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Manx finds his whole world threatened when a young woman in New England discovers she has a dangerous gift.

The Goldfinch‘s Ashleigh Cummings will play Vic McQueen, a young, working-class artist whose creativity awakens a supernatural ability to track Manx (Quinto). What Vic lacks in social confidence, she makes up for in courage, humor, and tough-as-nails grit. She strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

NOS4A2 is produced by AMC Studios in association with Tornante Television. The series is executive produced by Joe Hill, Jami O’Brien (Fear The Walking Dead, Hell On Wheels), who created the show for television and will serve as showrunner, and Lauren Corrao, Co-President of Tornante Television. The cast also includes the previously announced Olafur Darri Olafsson (Lady Dynamite) as Bing Partridge, Virginia Kull (The Looming Tower) as Linda McQueen, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher) as Chris McQueen and Jahkara Smith (aka Sailor J) as Maggie Leigh.

The first season is slated to premiere Sunday, June 2 at 9pm/8c.
