Watch The Walking Dead Alpha Teaser

AMC has released a new video revealing the first footage of the Whisperers leader Alpha (Samantha Morton).

The official synopsis for The Walking Dead Season 9B reads:

“The second half of The Walking Dead Season 9 finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves. What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realize the world just beyond does not operate as they thought.

The group’s rules and ways of survival no longer guarantee their safety. A whole new threat has crossed their paths, and they soon discover it’s unlike any threat they have encountered or endured before. The group will start to question what they think they see. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.”

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. The midseason premiere will air in February 10, 2019.

Zachary Quinto Is A Soul-Sucking Monster In NOS4A2 First-Look Photo

Four decades ago, horror director Tobe Hooper terrified TV viewers with his 1979 adaptation of Stephen King’s vampire novel Salem’s Lot. Now AMC is hoping to chill spines in a similar fashion with this small-screen version of NOS4A2, the 2013 book from King’s son Joe Hill, which reworked the traditional myth of the undead bloodsuckers.

The show stars Zachary Quinto as the ancient, supernaturally powered Charlie Manx, who periodically rejuvenates by feeding on the life forces of children as he transports them to a fantasy world he has created called Christmasland. “In the journey they become these ghoulish creatures, and Charlie Manx is fed with vitality and youth,” says the actor.

Andrew Lincoln To Lead Three The Walking Dead Movies On AMC

AMC has announced the first projects in development from Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple for The Walking Dead Universe. A series of AMC Studios Original Films, starring Andrew Lincoln and written by Gimple, are planned to continue the story of Rick Grimes, with the first expected to begin production as early as 2019.

In Lincoln’s final appearance on the hit series The Walking Dead, the character of Rick Grimes is mortally wounded and last seen being flown away by helicopter to an unknown destination.  The first film will explore the story of where Rick is taken and what he faces in a new corner of the zombie apocalypse.

As part of Gimple’s multi-year plan for The Walking Dead Universe, there are other projects currently in development, including additional films, specials, series, digital content and more.  Some of the stories will relate to The Walking Dead as fans know it while others will be standalone stories that break into new creative territory.

“We have a lot on the horizon – starting with a new epic featuring one of the greatest leading actors in television history and one of the best people I’ve ever met,” said Gimple. “These films are going to be big evolutions of what we’ve been doing on the show, with the scope and scale of features. We’re starting with the first part of the continuing story of Rick Grimes, and there is much more on the way, featuring yet-unseen worlds of The Walking Dead and faces from the show’s past, as well as new characters we hope to become favorites, told by TWD veterans and emerging voices. We want to break new ground with different, distinct stories, all part of the same world that’s captured our imagination for nearly a decade of the Dead.”

“We believe this is a world and narrative with many possibilities and opportunities for character development and we’re excited to expand the series into a franchise that can live across multiple formats,” said David Madden, president of original programming for AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “For many years, fans have talked about things in the apocalypse they want to see and now we have an opportunity to explore those stories, beginning with the character who started it all, Rick Grimes.”

Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years after a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of survivors who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The series is executive produced by chief content officer Scott M. Gimple, showrunner Angela Kang, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero, Tom Luse and Denise Huth.

Zachary Quinto & Ashleigh Cummings Cast In AMC Horror Series “NOS4A2” Based On The Joe Hill Novel

AMC has cast Emmy-nominated actor and producer Zachary Quinto (“Star Trek,” “American Horror Story”) and rising star Ashleigh Cummings (“The Goldfinch,” “Hounds of Love”) in the lead roles for its new supernatural horror series “NOS4A2” (working title). The network also announced Emmy-nominated director Kari Skogland (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Sons of Liberty”) will direct the first two episodes of the series based on Joe Hill’s bestselling novel of the same name. Production began this week in Rhode Island.

The 10 one-hour episodes are slated to premiere in 2019.

Quinto will play Charlie Manx, a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – an icy, twisted Christmas village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Manx finds his whole world threatened when a young woman in New England (Cummings) discovers she has a dangerous gift.

Cummings will play Vic McQueen, a young, working-class artist whose creativity awakens a supernatural ability to track Manx (Quinto). What Vic lacks in social confidence, she makes up for in courage, humor, and tough-as-nails grit.  She strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

Executive producer and showrunner, Jami O’Brien said, “As a huge fan of Joe Hill’s rich, imaginative, and exciting book, I am over the moon to be working with such a phenomenal cast and creative team on this special project.”

“NOS4A2” is produced by AMC Studios in association with Tornante Television. The series is executive produced by Joe Hill, Jami O’Brien (“Fear The Walking Dead,” “Hell On Wheels”), who created the show for television and will serve as showrunner, and Lauren Corrao, Co-President of Tornante Television. The cast also includes the previously announced Olafur Darri Olafsson (“Lady Dynamite”) as Bing Partridge, Virginia Kull (“The Looming Tower”) as Linda McQueen, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“The Punisher”) as Chris McQueen and Jahkara Smith (aka Sailor J) as Maggie Leigh.

AMC Greenlights Joe Hill’s NOS4A2 Series

AMC announced today that it has greenlit new supernatural horror series NOS4A2, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Joe Hill, who will also executive produce the series. Jami O’Brien (Fear the Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels) created the show for television, and will serve as showrunner and executive producer along with executive producer Lauren Corrao, Co-President of Tornante Television. The series is produced by AMC Studios in association with Tornante Television. The NOS4A2 series will premiere with 10 episodes in 2019.

NOS4A2 introduces Vic McQueen, a young, working class artist who discovers she has a supernatural ability to track the seemingly immortal Charlie Manx. Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic must strive to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

“’NOS4A2’ continues in AMC’s rich tradition of immersive dramas that combine otherworldly stories with relatable relationships and big emotional themes,” said David Madden, president of original programming for AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “Jami O’Brien and the writing team have vibrantly brought Joe Hill’s incredible story to life for the small screen and we are pleased to be making this diabolically unique new show under the AMC Studios shingle, in association with Tornante.”

“We are pleased that Tornante found the perfect partners in Jami and AMC to develop and broadcast this unique and original series with complex characters and themes based on the Joe Hill book,” said Michael Eisner, owner of Tornante.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the forthcoming adaptation of ‘NOS4A2.’ I know it’s in good hands with showrunner Jami O’Brien: her beautifully composed scripts show a writer at the height of her powers, one who has an exquisite touch with character and a relentless instinct for suspense,” said Hill. “AMC’s record speaks for itself: who wouldn’t want to be in business with the ‘Mad Men’ who ‘Broke Bad’ and made ‘The Dead Walk?’ And Tornante’s dedication to bringing singular visions to TV has freed everyone involved to do their best and truest work. I can’t wait to see Vic McQueen turn the throttle and go after Charlie Manx in 2019. Let’s ride.”

“I loved Joe Hill’s fantastic book from the moment I read it, and look forward to continuing to work with Joe, AMC, and Tornante on this exciting material,” said O’Brien.
