Chris Barker Creates Sgt. Peppers Themed Album Cover For Deceased Celebrities in 2017

Chris Barker has created a poster in homage to the iconic, famous Beatles cover art for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, showing all the celebrities who had passed away in 2017.

This year, 2017, marks the 50th anniversary of the release of the Beatles’ album, Sgt. Pepper, which makes the new art even more iconic.

Tom Petty, Adam West, Gordon Kaye, Sir Bruce Forsyth, Fats Domino, Sir Roger Moore, Hugh Hefner, and John Hurt are among the many well-known faces who passed away this year, and are commemorated in the new art.

Events were also featured in the art, taking on a bit of an apocalyptic, climate change theme with the red skies and flooded waters at the bottom.

In the background looms the Mandalay Bay Hotel, the Las Vegas scene now associated with Stephen Paddock’s gun massacre of at least 58 people. Also in the background are palm trees blown by the multiple hurricanes and tropical storms that have ravaged the world in 2017.

You can find this iconic submarine and its legendary passengers in stores from on November 1, 2016 for a recommended retail price of 59.99. The set consists of over 550 LEGO bricks including the 4 minifigures representing John, Paul, George and Ringo, as well as a Jeremy figure, and is an ideal gift for fans of LEGO building and The Beatles alike, with great opportunities for role play or as a colorful, retro display piece.

Here is the official description:

Take a surreal trip under the seas in the LEGO version of the Yellow Submarine from the iconic 1968 animated musical fantasy film inspired by The Beatles. Ideal for display or role-play fun, the Yellow Submarine features loads of cool, authentic details including a cockpit for the included minifigures of John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Kevin Szeto’s motivation for creating the Yellow Submarine:

“As an amateur musician and songwriter, I have always been drawn to the music of The Beatles. The creation of the Yellow Submarine model was really my way of showing my affection for The Beatles, as well as trying to pay a small tribute to The Beatles phenomenon. The Yellow Submarine is bright, fun, and colourful, which also made it a good subject to translate into LEGO form”, Kevin said as he shared his motivations for building the Yellow Submarine.

Justin Ramsden’s (LEGO designer) motivations were also very much centered around his love for the iconic band, as he was given the opportunity to refine Kevin’s initial model. “I€ watched€ the€ film€ when€ I€ was€ younger€ and€ was €really €inspired€ by €how €it €oozed€ so€ much€ imagination€ –€ comparable€ to€ how€ I€ view€ LEGO€ elements.Š €I’m €also €a €massive €fan €of €The€ Beatles ˆ€having €grown€ up€ with €their €music€ all€ my €life ˆ€so €to €see €The €Beatles €in €LEGO €form €is€ a €dream €come €true.”

Hot Wheels Unveil Beatles’ Yellow Submarine 50th Anniversary Collection

Hot Wheels aren’t just for kids anymore; they’re for the Beatles fanatic, too. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ 1966 song “Yellow Submarine,” Hot Wheels will release a special collection to accompany the animated film.

The collection includes the Hot Wheels Yellow Submarine replica, complete with orange track-compatible wheels, as well as an assortment of six cars featuring the art of the iconic 1968 Yellow Submarine film. Fans will appreciate the collection’s nod to the movie, with vivid colors, creative designs, and, of course, John, Paul, Ringo, and George adorning the packaging. And even though the film’s Blue Meanies were music-haters, they get some love from Hot Wheels with their own “Kool Kombi” tour van.

The Beatles-themed assortment pack will first hit shelves on June 9 at The Cirque du Soleil Beatles Shop at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, before rolling out to Walmart stores in the U.S. on June 15.

Dark Hall Mansion To Release Beatles Inspired Print, “The Record Store” By Dave Perillo On May 22, 2015

Dark Hall Mansion  is most pleased to reveal its latest officially licensed Beatles limited edition print release: “The Record Store” by contemporary artist, Dave Perillo, on sale this Friday, May 22nd, 2015!

Dark Hall Mansion, working with Apple Corps Ltd and Bravado International, their North American licensing agent, will release Dave Perillo’s unique take on a very special moment at a most everyday record store. An unusual and quietly meditative piece that catches the Beatles pausing before a record store window, a reflection on all accomplished and all that’s yet to come, it’s as much a meditation on artistry and artistic achievement as it is on fame and identity. Are the Beatles pausing in some “Hard Day’s Night”-like run from their oncoming swarm of fans, or were they already there, quietly taking in the moment, alone and contemplative as only they knew this singular experience? The print is a special one, having required select clearances so Dave might be able to include actual Beatles record covers, tour posters, television performance imagery and related, all in creating his piece. What we see is at once so very public and yet so intimate and private, only the public visage of the Beatles gazes back at the viewer, while Dave’s rendering of nuances such as slight head tilts and telling body language allow us to also stand quietly with the Beatles, sharing this moment with them. A charming piece no doubt, but a poignant one as well.

DHM’s officially licensed Beatles Dave Perillo “The Record Store” limited edition Standard print measures 20″ x 28,” is a 6-color screen print, hand numbered and limited to a worldwide run of only 280 pieces at $65. The Variant edition is a 20″ x 28″ 6-color screen print, 3 colors being metallic ink highlights, hand numbered and limited to only 50 pieces worldwide at $100. The select Foil edition (based on Std colorway) measures 20″ x 28,” a 6-color screen print, on foil, hand numbered and limited to only 10 editions worldwide at $150. Dark Hall Mansion To Release Yellow Submarine Print By Alex Ross On February 26, 2015

Dark Hall Mansion is thrilled to reveal its latest officially licensed Beatles limited edition release: “Yellow Submarine” by preeminent comic book artist, Alex Ross, on sale Thursday, February 26th, 2015.

Dark Hall Mansion, working with Apple Corps Ltd and Bravado International, their North American licensing agent, will release Alex’s singular vision of the Beatles’ groundbreaking 1968 masterpiece, “Yellow Submarine.” Driven by the Beatles legendary music and inspired by the generation’s new trends in art, the film resides with the dazzling styles of Pop Art, yet it’s “Yellow Submarine’s” art direction and production design by Heinz Edelmann that most defined the film’s pioneering look, and it’s in this spirit of unique innovation and creativity that Alex Ross’s highly unusual take can best be appreciated. Alex has often been referred to as ‘the Norman Rockwell of comics’ yet his “Yellow Submarine” piece reveals the similarly powerful influence of master surrealist Salvador Dali, whom Alex has also recognized as a guiding influence on his style. His Blue Meanies are a sight to behold as is his overarching composition that does justice to the sweep of this legendary animated classic. Alex has commented prior on the body of his career’s work noting, “Hopefully by painting the work, you gain a sense of life and believability that will draw the reader in a little more,” and this is dynamically manifest in his massive 6-foot original painting for the Beatle’s “Yellow Submarine.”

Alex has worked on countless high profile projects, legendary comic book characters, Hollywood studios, a print for the Academy Awards, and so much more but he is very well known at this stage of his career for taking on projects of personal relevance and resonance most of all, and it’s in this context that he enthusiastically accepted Dark Hall Mansion’s invitation to a Beatles project, being an enormous fan of the world’s most famous band. Let Alex’s words convey just what the Beatles personally means to him and how meaningful “Yellow Submarine” is as well:

“For as long as I can remember hearing music, I have loved the Beatles. Not only do I believe they are the greatest musical group of all time, but also one of the greatest things to have happened in human history. “Yellow Submarine” has also been one of my favorite films since I was six years old. The opportunity to work with the Beatles’ likenesses in the very inspired context of the “Yellow Submarine” film is an absolute dream come true. There is so much I love about these men, their legacy, and this film.”

It doesn’t get any more clear and his “Yellow Submarine” piece is all Alex. This is the first time Alex has ever done a Beatles project and he was given little constraint, so it’s safe to say all involved on the project, from LA to London, where shocked on receiving a note and attachment one day revealing a stunning 6-foot painting and just exactly how passionate Alex really was about this project! Please see some very special candid progress images of Alex’s piece in development for DHM, attached, each showing him at work on the original painting in his private studio. We’re certain you’ll be impressed!

DHM’s Alex Ross Beatles “Yellow Submarine” limited editions are meticulously printed by Alex’s longstanding personal printer of choice and will be released by Dark Hall Mansion in exact scale to his original painting via limited edition canvas and paper editions. Both Beatles and Alex Ross fans worldwide will have an opportunity to own an officially licensed Beatles, full scale, 72-inch Alex Ross “Yellow Submarine” canvas or paper edition, each personally signed by the artist.

Dark Hall Mansion’s signed Alex Ross “Yellow Submarine” paper edition, limited to a worldwide run of just 295 pieces, will price at $375, while the select signed Alex Ross “Yellow Submarine” canvas edition, with only 125 editions available worldwide, will price at $550.

All Editions go on sale Thursday, Feb 26, 2015 at Dark Hall Mansion. They’ll go on sale on our dedicated Store page at 9:30 AM PST HERE.
