Ben & Jerry’s Pecan Resist Ice Cream

Alongside all those nutty chunks, this pint packs a powerful message under its lid: together, we can build a more just and equitable tomorrow. We can peacefully resist the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies and build a future that values inclusivity, equality, and justice for people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, refugees, and immigrants.

Pecan Resist will highlight four groups and movements focused on freedom, belonging, community, and justice. Color Of Change designs campaigns powerful enough to end practices that unfairly hold Black people back, and champions solutions that move everyone forward. Honor the Earth works on issues of climate change, renewable energy, and environmental justice with Indigenous communities. Women’s March is committed to harnessing the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change. Neta is one of the fastest-growing independent media platforms led by people of color along the Texas-Mexico border. Ben & Jerry’s is donating $25,000 to each organization and encouraging its fans to sign up, learn more and engage with each group at www.benjerry.com/pecanresist.

tumblr_n1m9fhKVvD1qap6dco1_1280

Ben & Jerry’s has released four new ice cream flavors. The new frozen treats are part of the “Core” line: The containers have two flavors, one on each side of a fudge or jam center. If that’s not decadent enough, there are chunks of candy or brownies in the ice cream.

“We wanted to blow out the concept of fun flavors, chunks and swirls and take it over the top,” said Eric Fredette, the lead flavor developer for Ben & Jerry’s.

The four new flavors are:

r-HAZED-AND-CONFUSED-403xFB

– Hazed & Confused: chocolate and hazelnut ice creams with fudge chips and a hazelnut fudge core.

r-THATS-MY-JAM-403xFB

– That’s My Jam: raspberry and chocolate ice creams with fudge chips and a raspberry core.

r-PEANUT-BUTTER-FUDGE-403xFBcredit

– Peanut Butter Fudge: chocolate and peanut butter ice creams with mini peanut butter cups and a peanut butter fudge core.

r-CARAMEL-ICE-CREAM-403xFB

– Salted Caramel: sweet cream ice cream with blonde brownies and a salty caramel core.

The pints ($4.39 each) are rolling out to stores this month. In the spring, Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops will offer customizable Core Sundaes with a core of hot fudge or caramel between any two flavors.

Ben & Jerry’s Announces Newest Flavor, “Scotchy Scotch Scotch” Created in Honor of Ron Burgundy From Anchorman

ben-and-jerrys-ice-cream

Ben & Jerry’s announces its newest limited batch ice cream flavor, “Scotchy Scotch Scotch.” Created in honor of beloved Ron Burgundy, the TV news anchor with a penchant for all things scotch, the flavor is a creamy concoction of butterscotch ice cream with ribbons of butterscotch swirl. Don’t act like you’re not impressed!

“Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch is a delicious ice cream and I hope Ben and Jerry consider my other suggestions,” said Ron Burgundy.  “Malt liquor marshmallow, well liquor bourbon peanut butter, and cheap white wine sherbet.”

The flavor was officially unveiled at New York City’s Pier 36 where members of the press attended and witnessed the announcement first-hand. True to the iconic ice cream company’s untraditional style, the event kicked off with – what else? – a performance by Nutty The Waterskiing Squirrel, as seen in the first Anchorman film. Nutty’s prowess was immediately followed by the appearance of a Ben & Jerry’s scoop-truck-turned-Channel 4 News-truck, which rolled onto the scene transporting a legion of blazer-wearing Ron Burgundy look-alikes. After “Scotchy Scotch Scotch” was officially unveiled, attending media and fans were treated to free scoops of the new Ron Burgundy-inspired flavor.

Fans anxiously await December 20th, when Ron and his elite news team return to the news desk in “Anchorman 2:  The Legend Continues.”

Scotchy Scotch Scotch is available now at participating scoop shops across the country. Pints of the flavor will arrive on store shelves over the next few weeks.

With the 70’s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.”  Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy…while taking New York and the nation’s first 24-hour news channel by storm.  Produced by Judd Apatow, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. Ben & Jerry’s Announces City Churn Campaign, 5 U.S. Cities Can Vote For & Name New Ice Cream Flavors

ben-jerrys-city-churned-hed2-2013

Ben & Jerry’s is mixing up something unique in popular U.S. cities: a flavor as local as a city itself. Calling it “City Churned,” the ice cream maker will be the first of its kind to crowdsource locally inspired flavors that are literally created by the cities themselves.

The “City Churned” campaign kicks off in five markets: Washington, D.C., San Francisco, New York, Portland and Seattle. Each market will have its own microsite that will track real-time votes from the motions and residents of each market. Over the course of several weeks, Ben & Jerry’s will tabulate the activities of each city by means of public transportation, tweets, traffic, landmarks, and of course its people, to create and name its own city-inspired Ben & Jerry’s flavor.

“Name a city and you feel a pulse that is individual to that hub.  There’s a personality to each location that is distinctive unto itself… Some would say “a flavor,” said Dave Stever, Director of Marketing. “We’re going to give our fans something we’ve never given them before: a chance to mix up an ice cream as unique as that city’s own flavor,” Stever added.

For example, in D.C. Ben & Jerry’s filmed and tracked city joggers to help decide between the ingredients peppermint and marshmallow. Northbound jogging traffic along the Potomac became votes for marshmallow, while southbound joggers counted as votes for peppermint. In New York, on-time subway trains will count as votes for either waffle cone pieces or Spoonable Caramel, depending on the subway line. In Seattle, support for Fairtrade Chocolate or Fairtrade Vanilla will, in part, be determined by the number of plaid vs. plain shirts filmed on city streets.

Fans who aren’t present at the filming locations can also weigh in on each ingredient match-up by voting online on the “City Churned” microsite. They can also put their creativity to the test by submitting their original ideas for the flavor name.  In each market, the campaign will conclude with a community event where for one day only the flavor will be tasted and celebrated by the local fans that helped develop it.

To ensure that these “City Churned” flavors are a tribute to the cities themselves, Ben & Jerry’s is partnering with local business to source local ingredients. Companies include Divine Chocolate, Route 11 Chips, Sixpoint Brewery, Spoonable Caramel, Liddabit Sweets, TCHO Chocolate, Kika’s Treats, Rogue Ales, Portland Roasting Coffee, Theo Chocolates and Caffé Vita.

The campaign will officially kick off in each market when the beloved Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Truck rolls into each city as part of its East and West Coast “Scoop Truck” sampling tour. Consumers can also cast their “City Churned” ballots at select Scoop Truck scooping locations simply by tossing their spoons into recycling bins listed for Caramel or Fudge. Touring the west and east coast for the third summer, the Scoop Truck is still delivering frozen treats for tweets. This year, it is dishing out Ben & Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt and in “City Churned” markets it will help facilitate local voting. Follow the Scoop Truck’s winding path on Twitter @BenJerrysTruck (on the East Coast) and @BenJerrysWest (on the West Coast).
